The Best & largest slices in the Bronx.

I love my food prepared by the people most famously accredited for preparing them. I love my Shrimp with Lobster Sauce traditionally prepared by Chinese Restaurant owners, I love my Seasoned Rice and Curry Chicken traditionally prepared by Jamaican restaurant owners, I love Arroz con Habichuelas traditionally prepared by Latin restaurant owners, and I love my Pizza traditionally prepared by Italian restaurant owners. The authenticity is definitely in the traditional preparation and the incredible taste confirms it.

John And Joe's Pizza restaurant has been around forever.

We have lived in this neighborhood for over two decades, and no other pizza comes close. It's like biting into the geographical boot heel of Italy. No... Seriously. It's that good. The taste is flooded not just with seasoning... But love, care, tradition, culture, values, and ancestry.

If you've ever wanted to go to Italy, but haven't the time, or the duckets...make time to stop over to John and Joe's. They have a variety of toppings, and can create pretty much whatever you ask, if they have the ingredients on hand. They've never disappointed my sisters, my partner, or me...in all these years. Lemme tell you a little story about John And Joe's.

"The 9th Largest Blackout in the World"

A few years back, (2003) we were hurled in the middle of a huge blackout territory. It was so aptly titled "The Northeast Blackout." It encompassed knocking out all power for a radius of "EIGHT STATES, including parts of CANADA, and affecting over 50,000,000 people. Some of you may remember. It was massive. It went from 4 in the afternoon until, for some, 2 Days.

This was August 14. It was hot. My apologies, I meant to say, it was...HELL-HOT...🔥🔥🔥.

Two of my sisters came over, and we waited out the blackout, hoping it would end soon. As night began to fall, we grew hungry for dinner. Couldn't make anything and didn't want to constantly open the fridge, causing our food to spoil. Time was running away and we still couldn't decide what to eat. By now it was 11:00pm, and pitch black outside.

"Let's get some Pizza," Peaches exclaimed to the hungry hot bodies in the room.

We decided to get some pizza from John And Joe's Pizza Restaurant on Lydig Avenue in the Bronx. How did we know they were even open this late at night, and in the midst of blackout territory??? We didn't know. But what we did know was that, "Nothing beats a try but the failure to try" - Maya Angelou. We knew that we were one of the very few in our building with a land-line. And after attempting to John and Joe's, we learned...so were they. And the proof was when we called, John and Joe's, and a very warm and friendly voice came over the receiver.

"Welcome to John And Joe's, can I take your order?"

I smiled deep inside. It was as if Italy came over to the Bronx to rescue us Bronxites by preparing some foods the only way they know how... Deliciously. I said to the warm voice, "Oh my God, you're open!" and he replied by saying, "Oh, yes darling, we are here and open for business, what can I get yous?" I smiled inside even wider. "I'll be right over!"

So, my big sister Bo, and Peaches took off to get the order. When they returned they told us off the love shared to all, and how they didn't try to take advantage of the situation. Their prices stayed the same.

We have never forgotten that night or John And Joe's for their incredible hospitality, delicious pizza, and amazing traditional style.

But don't take my word for it,

Go to

John and Joe's...

Been coming here since I was a kid. 1980 - Present. It's a small neighborhood 🍕 Pizza Shop. I used to go to the elementary school across the street. I used to sneak out during lunch breaks and grab a slice and sneak back to the schoolyard be the teachers noticed I was gone.

40 years later I'm still going back but I don't have to sneak out to get a slice anymore. John & Joe's Pizza has been the place to go for great pizza and quick pasta dishes for lunch or dinner.

You can get anything from a regular slice to white pizza and spinach slices but my favorites are their hot dogs with cheese in a blanket. (I'm addicted to them.) They have garlic knots, pepperoni rolls, stromboli and all kinds of calzones.

You can order to take out or eat in but seating is limited and you need to be patient as this place can get very busy and very crowded at the height of lunch and dinner times.

They do deliver generally around the immediate neighborhood which has always been an issue for me over the years as they don't deliver to where I live near Morris Park Avenue and East 180th Street. As I was told it was too far to keep their delivery guys from getting back to work at the shop. But I hold no grudges over this.

My loyalty remains intact after so many years. I enjoy going there in person and sitting down to eat at this favorite spot of mine. John and Joe.... I love you guys. Don't ever hang up your aprons. Keep it in the family if you can. Don't sell and don't stop doing what...

pizza is good, but service is pretty bad, especially for delivery. we ordered a single pizza for delivery to an address that’s 1.5 blocks (2 min walk) from the restaurant. we called back ~10 min later to try to add something else to our order but were told it was already sent out. no problem, we were actually happy that we would be getting it super fast. we then proceeded to wait another 50 minutes for the pizza that was allegedly already out for delivery, and ended up calling the restaurant to let them know we no longer wanted the pizza and that we would not open the door if the delivery person still came. not even 10 minutes later we received multiple calls from them despite this. we actually ended up ordering elsewhere that was significantly further away which came in 20 min. overall, the food is decent but not worth such a long wait for such a...

I used to live in the neighborhood and ordered from here all the time. Well, now I moved to Brooklyn and no other pizza shop can really compare to John & Joes. Came back here after a few years and everything tasted exactly the same. I almost cried. The portions, the prices and the quality is everything I remember and better. I apologize if the photo may be unflattering but it’s so flavorful and delicious. Their sauce, cheese, everything is unmatched and makes me feel so nostalgic.

I called and ordered the spaguetti with meatball meal. First off, I was told it would be $13. When it was delivered it went up to $14.50🤨whatever. The spaguetti was fine..who can go wrong boiling spaguetti🙄. However, the meatballs were disgusting. It was only 2 meatballs and they were bland and mushy. It seems like they were frozen and they simply defrosted them in the microwave. I was expecting the meatballs to be fried. Dont expect that. They are mushy and bland. Waste of money.
