Kavkazkiy Dvorik — Restaurant in New York

I don’t recommend this place for many reasons. First of all, the place is very narrow & dancing there won’t be enjoyable. They play the music too loud for such small area. Second, food is okay tasting, nothing impressing that would make you come back. Greek salad and their dumpling soup was good, but avocado salad not really, wasn’t paired with good dressing; eggplant appetizer wasn’t tasty, qutab( tortilla type thin bread filled w/ meat or greens) wasn’t tasty at all. They served bread burnt, it was literally black! Since our waitress was so focused on a big party table next to us we couldn’t ask her to bring another bread so we started scooping out the middle part. By the way, there were 6 of us in our group & we were the on Saturday. we ordered pitcher of kompot ( it’s a sweet beverage like a juice) that didn’t taste homemade, weird artificial flavors. Some of the kebabs were good but some were really chewy. Also kebabs are usually served w/raw chopped up onions topped w/ vinegar in any Russian type restaurants but here there’s no vinegar on onions which is really disappointing if u r Russian or from similar culture. Now about the service.. Don’t you hate it when your server doesn’t make an eye contact w/ you time to time to check if You need something!? We had that type.. & she wasn’t around that much too which is why we ordered our main course an HOUR LATER after apps! When we asked her about the size of the kebabs she kept saying normal size, we tried to find out how big her “normal” size is. but no luck.. so we ordered all kinds of kebabs like combination. It took them 30MIN.S! Guess what, kebabs were huge size, one piece was the size of my palm. & lamb ribs were missing.. so we asked our waitress when she came back w/the sauce. She said let me show this to the chef & took our huge plate w/ kebabs out of which we already started eating. This is So unprofessional. Why can’t she just tell the chef!? So she came back w/ our plate & said it will come separately. Guess what we waited another 30min.s & were full by then, & wanted to leave. So I went to tell the waitress to cancel the ribs, she refused by saying it’s almost ready, then the manager who was there agreed w/ her. I asked him why they are serving ribs separately, he said because if we serve everything at the same time it’s too much. So I saw no piont talking to them anymore. Bad service. When you come and place a big/small order they over charge you extra either way for each dish on TOP of the MENU PRICE (charge 2 or 3 dollars extra) and if u have a big order you end up with 100$ or 50$ extra. On 23 dishes they over charged me 87$. The owners are scammers and theifs . For example, I placed and order of 10 shishkbabs and they only gave me 6 and charged me for ten. They think people are stupid. They OVER CHARGE people. OVER CHARGED ME over 29% on my total bill. I will never come back here ever again. This guy/owner what’s to become rich over night. This is not how it works in America. Food is okay but nothing special! This is not the first time this happened. My Russian speaking friends also had this problem. If you don’t want to get scammed don’t come here!!!!

PLEASE DO NOT BY GROUPON VOUCHERS ANY OTHER DEALS FOR KAVKAZSKIY DVORIK IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO VASTE YOU MONEY AND NERVES. People running this business have NO respect to their clients and just put your money in their pockets. You will just lose your money forever and also spoil your day. My daughter bought a $50.00 certificate for dinner for two which should be good for Sunday thru Thursday. First time I called on Sunday and was told: "we don’t accept groupon’s vouchers on Sundays, it was an error ???!!!!. Then I called on Tuesday to make a reservation for Thursday and was told: we are not accepting groupons anymore and I can cancel (cancel what? money already paid and my daughter thinks we will enjoy the dinner....) I will post this review on every possible site to prevent people from Kavkazskiy Dvorik. The owner and staff don't know anything about respect, just steal your money!!!!!
