Great space to bring your dog. There are many groups that meet every day in the middle field. The track has become unusable in recent years and can really only be used for light jogging and some biking. However the city is working to fix it by 2025 (and they have been for 15 years). I do like the multimillion dollar investment in the new basketball courts, tennis courts, punchball courts, gym, community center, Boche ball courts, and pathways connecting them. I call it "the blacktop" and it is about 600 feet across and 200 feet wide and is modern and beautiful. The baseball fields are seemingly well kept and so is the grass for most of the year. Cleanup after storms is great for the most part and snow is shoveled into the parking lot. There is usually parking at the parking lots on Ave U or Ave S but not around the park itself. When it rains the park looks misty and beautiful.
That was for the round park. The salt Marsh area is beautiful and I'm glad the city is investing in it. The nature center is gorgeous and well kept. The trial was destroyed by hurricane Sandy but the city's investment regrew it. They built a dock and planted grass and flowers. It really shows that work was put in.
The skate park is less nice than the rest of the park but still works. It needs some fixing however but the 2 mile trail to get there is...
Read moreLove the wild part of the part. South of Avenue U.
It's a pleasant walk, any season, any time of day and in pretty much any weather. It takes you out of Brooklyn.
A great place if you want to rent a jog, rent a kayak or bird watch. The facility there hosts many different community programs for kids and adults. From environmental sustainability classes to introductory sessions of marine biology, bird migration and lots of information of why salt marshes are important.
North part of the park is a lot more "civilized" offers a great playground for kids of all ages, activity, with spray jets in the summer. The park facility that was built is super modern, earth roof, solar panels, natural light filled (and cost the tax payers twice as much as proposed) Basketball courts, biking and jogging track around the park. Bike rental and lots of green. I believe there are 6 baseball fields, surrounded by 75 year old trees.
Ice cream shop across is on Avenue U, near Gerritsen Ave. Tasty and...
Read moreMarine Park is an incredible neighborhood to live and experience. I have been living here for the last 13 yrs. However, this is for the very selfish and probably racist person who made a very rude and disturbing comment about too many Cricket being played and too many foreigners destroying it. Please. If you guys see colored people playing sports(soccer and cricket) in the park, whats the problem with that. And how do you know they are foreigners. We are all foreigners, unless of course you are a native Indian. LMAO. You definitely sound like a typical white racist. SMH. WE all have the rite to play in this park. I play there everyday. We pay taxes just like you. You need to be quiet, because you sound very...
