NEW OWNERSHIP March 2024. The food is GOOD. Equally impressive to me is the owner fully comprehends the importance of customer satisfaction. Not sure if I am alone but I find this quality of caring about the customer an ever decreasing presence in retail establishments in “modern times”.
A week or two ago we ordered a “Special Pie”, half margarita/half vodka sicilian pie for delivery and before we hung up the owner who took the phone order asked if we would be kind enough to call back when we can to share our impressions. The pie was excellent (both halves - quality ingredients) however much of the vodka sauce and cheese on that half had run off the pie and some was attached to the top of the box (bummer).
Tonight I ordered a meatball parmigiana hero (also good) for pickup. I wanted to share our experience with half margarita/half vodka sicilian pie with the owner as he had requested but I wanted to do that in person. We talked - he said to me he guesses that since he has a master’s degree in social work he’s “big on feedback”. I shared with him our half margarita/half vodka sicilian pie experience and he told me we should have called back the night we ordered and he would have made good that night. He said that the delivery guy probably did not stabilize the pizza box significantly enough and perhaps it was not put into the slightly higher sicilian pizza box and that’s why cheese was stuck to the top of the box as well. It did have a 3 legged plastic table (or two) in the box but it/they did not seem to help much. As I said to the owner, I think it is also possible FRESH vodka sauce & cheese sicilian pizza pies just do not lend themselves to deliveries.
In expression of his appreciation for my feedback he did not charge me for my meatball parmigiana hero and threw in a regular slice for me to try - customer satisfaction they way it use to be.
I have gone on quite a bit here with this review but I thought telling the whole story was important. BOTTOM LINE: The NEW (owner) Kingdom Cafe should be at the top of your list of Staten Island pizzerias. The food is excellent, the service is excellent and you will be appreciated as a customer. FEEDBACK IS NOT ONLY ENCOURAGED, IT’s...
Read moreOf all the stripmall pizza joints in all of Staten Island... I happened into this place. This is the worst pizzaria I have ever had the misfortune to step into. Let's see, where to begin. 2 semiconscious and disinterested employees behind the glass with their faces stuck to their phones literally without stopping for the entire time I was there. I ordered a fresh pie. Never saw anyone make any pizza. After approximately 30 minutes I think they pulled one out of a box in a freezer and stuck it in a microwave... Then suddenly a pizza appeared on the counter. Not that any of the "never attentive" staff notice it or moved from their screens for 15 minutes before finally picking it up and dropping it on our table. It was the lamest pizza ever. But wait, there was entertainment! First there was the enormous, sweaty customer who walked in with a snake, ordered from the dead-fish-eyed counter girl, sat down, putting the snake on the table, and sucked on a giant soda for 30 minutes. Several of the staffs friends stopped in gaze into their cellphones together before sitting down and vaping at the tables. Again, not a peep from the phone addled staff. No doubt the WORST, most poorly managed, "indifferent-to-all-customers" pizzaria on...
