Made a reservation for Saturday June 1 2024 for a party if 8. Reservation was for 630pm. When the reservation was made we were informed that there would be a choice of only 2 appetizers, fried calamari and/or caprese salad due to the "large" party. That was fine. We were seated at 620 and the appetizers and drinks were ordered. At 645pm the dinner orders were taken. At this point we had our appetizers and salt, pepper and splenda were requested. Splenda alone was brought. From 645pm until 8pm NO ONE NOT ONE SINGLE SOLITARY SERVER CAME TO CHECK ON OUR TABLE!! Repeated attempts were made to get someone's attention to no avail. Finally at 8pm the owner's son came to our table. When complaints were made about lack of service and no food we were told that everything "blew up". I personally complained that no one checked to see if we needed anything or to update us about the delay. At this point the owner's son walked away. At 815 he came back to the table and AGAIN he was asked about our food. By now the owner's son became arrogant and condescending and stated "WE WANT TO BRING OUT ALL THE FOOD OUT AT ONE TIME AND HE'S NOT GOING TO PUSH HIS MOTHER ". His mother is the cook. We were finally served at 840pm. We waited nearly 2 hours for our food. When we received the bill the owner's son had the audacity to add a 20% gratuity to the bill because we were a party of 8. We never received an apology an offer of perhaps coffee and desert for our troubles ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! And to top it off the restaurant was hotter than hell! No air conditioning no windows or doors open. From start to finish the experience was absolutely awful. If they can't handle large groups then the reservation should not have been taken. I've eaten at other Italian restaurants which freshly make the food. I have never waited 2 hours for a plate of good. I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. I WOULDN'T SEND MY WORST ENEMY OR A...
Read moreLast Friday evening, my family and I had the pleasure of dining at L'Italiano Trattoria around 5:15 pm, spontaneously and without a reservation. Despite being fully booked, the staff kindly found us a table, asking only that we finish by 6:45 pm. This warm welcome was a wonderful start to our visit.
The atmosphere was intimate and friendly, with many guests greeted personally, indicating a loyal and regular clientele. This charming spot is a true hidden gem, cherished by those who prefer timeless quality over fleeting trends, and it's evident in the lack of widespread online acclaim.
Service was exceptionally quick. We were immediately served water and delicious complimentary bread, showcasing the staff's efficiency and expertise. Our order was taken with impressive memory, further displaying the team's professionalism.
For starters, we had the Misto Oreganato, a homemade delight with a subtle breading that enhanced the flavors, particularly the white wine in the sauce. The Pasta Primavara, ordered by my sons, was thoughtfully served on two plates, emphasizing the kitchen's attention to detail. The dish itself was fresh and perfectly balanced. The Calamari Salad was a hit, featuring excellently grilled calamari with a light dressing. The Cannelloni stood out with its perfectly cooked pasta and rich ricotta filling.
Opting to take our desserts home, we were thrilled with the cheesecake, reminiscent of the famous Eileen's in Nolita, and the Nutella Mousse Chocolate Cake was equally delightful.
Concluding our meal with the convenience of tableside card payment, we left impressed by the seamless experience.
L'Italiano Trattoria is where tradition, outstanding service, and culinary expertise come together. We eagerly anticipate our next visit, this time with a reservation, to enjoy this much-loved local...
Read moreLive about two blocks away and we were looking for someplace "new" for us to enjoy on our Saturday date nights together. I saw this restaurant on my way to work today and thought this would be a nice place to try. It's close to home and local and I love good italian food so let's give it a shot I thought. This turned out to be a Great Decision!! We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated as we had reservations for two. The place was nice, modern and clean very inviting to spend some time in. Our waitress soon approached and we ordered drinks, some appetizers and our main courses. They started us off with some free italian bread dripped with vinegar, oil and some herbs which were tasty. Our appetizers of calamari and mozzarella sticks soon followed and boy was everything so fresh and well prepared. Simply delicious soft and wonderful. Our entrees then arrived and my wife's chicken franchaise filled her huge plate from side to side and the mixed vegetables on the side were steamed to perfection. My veal parmigiana with rigatoni was also huge in size and nice and thin in width all with a delectable red sause that had good flavor and consistency. We both ate heartily and still could not finish our very generous portions. Our waitress was friendly, courteous and checked on us often. what a pleasure to enjoy some fine dining so close to home. We were so full we couldn't even imagine dessert tho our waitress told us the varied selections they offered and we saw looking so delectable in the refrigerated case not far from us. Next time for sure we will try the tiramisu and cheesecake. Overall this was an excellent experience and highly enjoyable date night saturday thanks to the fantastic food and great service we were given. I highly reccomend and we can't wait to go back and be pampered...
