So this was my first visit to Main Street Coffee and unfortunately will be my last. I can see why people want to come and eat here, it's a nice quiet spot in historic richmond town to sit and eat. However, I could not be more disappointed. My wife and I got there around 1:15pm just looking for a little food and some coffee. The girl behind the counter was extremely overwhelmed as she had to make all the coffee orders alone and take orders from customers. We were not able to order until 1:40 which was not the worst thing. It seemed like this place prioritizes mobile orders and door dash orders. After we finally ordered we sat and waited for our coffee and food. The coffee was actually made pretty quickly and it was excellent. This is the only reason for the 1 star. After the coffee was brought out we sat outside and waited for the food. Every 10 to 15 minutes I went inside to see if the food was ready and each time there was nothing ready. I started to see multiple people who came in after us getting food and sitting and eating. Going back inside I happened to look into the kitchen to see if anything was being made and was given a dirty look by one of the workers as if I were bothering them. I will always give people the benefit of the doubt but this was a little ridiculous. After almost and hour I had to ask what was going on. The girl taking orders asked what I ordered after I told her it had been almost and hour. I showed her my receipt and she went in the back to ask if it was being made. The workers in the kitchen were sitting and eating and looked at her like she was crazy. The girl then came back obviously annoyed and was about to put the order back in. At this point it had been over an hour since I put the order in and I had to leave to make an appointment. I asked if I could just have a refund which I was then given. The only thing I was refunded was for the food. This is the problem with businesses today. There is no courtesy for anyone. They made a mistake and had my wife and I waiting over an hour with no intention to even make the food. At this point it should have been a full refund or we could have been given something for free, but there was nothing, no apology just the refunded food. I understand with the way the world is right now businesses are still hurting however it's these moments that matter most. Having a customer who just wanted to eat and was then made to wait on their mistake and acting as if they couldn't care less. Well they just lost what could have been a long time customer. It's a shame for such a nice little place but this is New York now. The customer is no longer right, in fact they dont matter, just hike up your prices and sell as...
Read moreWe ordered a burger, a wrap, 2 smoothies, and a lemonade. They tell us it'll be 10-20 min. At 20min I go in and ask if we can just have the smoothies/lemonade. They tell us oh no the lemonade and the smoothies are made in the kitchen, and it'll be another 20min til everything is ready. I go outside and wait, and at 45min I go into the store and check in..they said its going to be another 20 minutes. For a burger, and a wrap. They still don't have the drinks made, either. At an hour 10 I go into the store and the drinks are ready, then from there it's still ANOTHER 15 minutes til the food comes out. It was decent food, but dear Lord did they gaslight us about the wait times for the food. Atleast be honest about when the foods going to come out. By the time we got the food the place was empty, and I couldn't ascertain a reason why. They never offered us anything for our trouble and significantly slowed down our day with the abysmal service. Would...
Read moreSimply charming. Every Staten Islander should stop in at least once during their living experience here. Just nice to know they are around to preserve Richmond Town's feel of yester year. Nothing fancy, but wonderfully comforting. Had coffee, tea and simple cake that was so fresh. Again, more in the spirit of a tavern, so do not expect a gourmet dining environment. Picnic tables outside. A beautiful experience for those amongst us who enjoy life's simplicity and local history. Going back soon. Great breakfast menu and can't wait to have lunch there soon. Terrific ladies behind the counter. Thank you gals! You help restore my faith in humanity and instill a true feeling of Staten Island community. Isn't that what it's all about in life anyway? Only takes small blessings to make one feel whole. This tiny...
