AVERAGE PERUVIAN RESTAURANT WITHOUT WORKING AC!!! I really had high expectations and was so excited about coming to this restaurant, I've read the previous reviews and couldn't wait to enjoy a fantastic meal. However, it only took two bites to realized I was going to have an upsetting meal in the middle of Maspeth. We ordered, Ceviche Classico, Anticuchos, Chaufa de Carne, and Causa Rellena de Atún. The Anticuchos were lackluster in flavor and were overcooked, to the point that two slices were burnt. They were not season at all, if you ever had anticuchos you know the distinctive flavor they have. These ones were just drowning in boring disappointment. It felt embarrassing to keep adding salt to our dish! Ceviche classico was decent, it had a little tang, but the acidity was too high, some milk might've helped. (yes, milk!). I never had dry and insipid tuna in a Causa Rellena dish, in most cases you taste the lime and mayo (or any cream) not here. Surprisingly, the Chaufa de Carne was exquisite and pretty good, it was the savior of the meal. Although, a little too oily for my taste, but it had enough zest to make it appetizing. I am not a big fun of loud music when I have a meal, but the singer on that Sunday afternoon was very good and had a smooth voice. FYI: careful when you use the bathroom, the stairs are very steep and you might need to hold on to the rails, specially for older adults and children. Also, it addition to the below the average food, this place doesn’t have a working air conditioning, which makes your meal very unpleasant.

I came to this restaurant with my sister to celebrate her birthday and we had such an amazing experience! We typically visit another Peruvian restaurant in the area, but after seeing great reviews, we decided to try something new—and we’re so glad we did! This will now be our new go-to Peruvian spot when we’re in the area. Valentina was our server, and she did an outstanding job, very attentive, kind, and super friendly. We did interact with a couple other staff members and they were all very kind as well.😊 I live in Connecticut, so I don’t get to see my sister often, and we really took our time. Valentina was perfect-attentive without being intrusive. We ordered a variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. I had a chicha sour and an espresso martini, and my sister tried the passion fruit chilcano. We both loved our drinks. For food, we had the leche de tigre, the anticuchos, the tallarín verde with bistec, and the causa de pollo. Every dish was fantastic. For dessert, I had requested a birthday tres leches dessert for my sister (which was tasty!) and it was such a nice touch when they brought it out. The staff sang happy birthday and played music—it felt like a little show, and it really made my sister feel special. Overall, we had a fantastic time, and we can’t wait to come back!!

My family friends and I dined at Mama Pisco last week, and we had such a great time! Despite it being a Thursday, we were delighted by the surprise of a live mariachi band playing excellent music. The band encouraged everyone in the restaurant to request songs, creating a friendly and family-oriented atmosphere. Our server for the evening, Elizabeth, was incredibly friendly and attentive. The business is owned by various partners, and Tito, one of them, was kind enough to bid us farewell as we were leaving. The entire team was very welcoming, and I cannot thank this place enough for the pleasant experience. Mama Pisco also has a fantastic selection of cocktail drinks. I tried the passion fruit Margarita, and it was amazing! The food was great too, with well-portioned dishes at reasonable prices. I particularly loved the Chaufa with steak, but you can definitely order to your own preference. They also offer a wide variety of plates, including many vegetarian options. Thank you again to everyone at Mama Pisco for the great time. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone and will be back again!

I’ve been here about four times now, my first ever experience was so good i told friends about this place. It’s what I called a “neighborhood gem”, until today.

Today I came with three other friends, we were ready to enjoy a few rounds of drinks and the food with the soccer game. The restaurant wasn’t busy, 5 tables including ours, yet we found ourselves looking for our server trying to catch her attention to either get more water or order more drinks. When we finally did order our second round of drinks, they all didn’t taste the same as our first. Inconsistency really ruins an experience.

I spoke with the manager and the soccer game was more important to him than to have any concern with the lack of care with our drinks. He comp’d one drink and then did us an even bigger service by slapping us with an auto gratuity of 18% which hasn’t happened to me any of the times I’ve went while spending basically the same amount of money (I’ve tipped 20% then because we actually had a good experience).

This restaurant needs major reflection, the food is great but a manager more interested in a soccer game when multiple tables clearly haven’t had water in over a half hour and it took twenty minutes to receive a round of 4 drinks? Disappointing to say the least.

Can’t stand entitled establishments that will find a way to force a set tip knowing they did the bare...
