Matto Espresso — Restaurant in New York

I’ve been getting coffee over 2 years, I had a great experience until recently, the company came out with a sandwich call egg, vegan sausage on a whole grain which the barista claimed to be the replacement of the impossible burger, I asked the Barista if the egg was Just egg (plant bases egg imitation), he said he would ask, next day he said it was just egg so I ate it for few days but something did not feel right so I wrote yo headquarters and they said it was regular egg, I went to the store and the baristas kept saying they were told it was just egg. The fact that they are using the word vegan in a non vegan sandwich is tricky adverstisement, and the most insulting fact is that their solution was to throw me a $5 credit to shut up. The lack of accountability is ridiculous, I’m so glad that it was me that is not allergic but if that have been my nephew that error could have killed him because his allergies. Your deceptive practices can end with someone dead. Considering the response of the owner, I want to clarify that I asked, and just to be clear due to cross contamination and due to contact with the egg, as soon as that “vegan sausage” is put in the sandwich it stops...

After having a coffee while reading my book, I asked could I use the restroom before leaving. I was told there wasn’t one. I turned my back to the counter and began chatting with someone I met while there only to turn around and see another guest coming from the back. I asked if he had gone to the bathroom and he said yes and that he was given a bathroom code. I’m not sure why I wasn’t allowed to use the bathroom but my rating reflects the service I received from the lady behind the counter today.

Update: After being contacted about this review, I realized that that some of the staff is very untruthful. l was told a lie regarding the customer that used the bathroom stating he was a driver and that the restroom is for employees only. I’m not sure what kind of driving he was doing as he came in with another person, bought coffee, and sat to talk for about an hour. He asked to use the restroom just like I did. VERY dishonest &...

This Matto location is my first to discover but also my favorite! The location is great, has seating available inside, and while small is well designed. Can sit and eat or take to go as you please.

Mobile ordering is a Matto pillar, and this location always succeeds. Rarely do I enter having to wait for my order, it's often waiting for me, even with a little treat (check it out!) on top.

Much of this is thanks to the main barista here, who is often by himself but is always kind and efficient. Greets regulars by their name with a smile, works quickly, and always prepares items perfectly!
