TOTAL SCAM – BEWARE if you’re just going to EAT!

My wife and I were in NYC for a show and wanted a quick bite after. Friends told us about this place on 143rd & Broadway that supposedly served food late and had a comedy show. We walked in around 9:30 PM, and the hostess immediately handed us two tickets to the comedy show. We told her we were just there to eat and needed to leave shortly to catch a flight at JFK by 11:30 PM. She nodded, no mention of any required fee.

We sat in a quieter room where musicians were setting up, hoping for a quick, relaxed meal. The server came and said we should sit in the bar area to watch the comedy show. Again, we told her we weren’t staying long and were only there to grab food. She said, “Well drinks are on the house for the comedy show.” Strange, but we went along and ordered two glasses of wine. We emphasized again—please bring our food ASAP.

We ordered two burgers. Food came reasonably quick. All seemed fine—until the bill arrived.

They charged us a $40 fee for the comedy show we didn’t attend. I went up to the hostess to ask why, and she flatly said the charge was for the show. We never agreed to it. She refused to remove it and claimed the $40 covered the two glasses of well wine we had. Come on—two glasses of the cheapest wine in NYC are not worth $40. We were lied to and ripped off as the menu clearly shows a glass of wine is $8.

This place is running a shady bait-and-switch scam. If you’re walking in to eat on a night they’re hosting comedy—do NOT accept the show tickets. Better yet, go somewhere else.

We’ve reported this to the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. Businesses like this one shouldn’t get away with tricking customers. Avoid...

I’m a regular! This was my first time ordering on Seamless and I got the burger! It’s NYE and my food arrived perfect! They can get all my takeout money! When this space opened as a local I felt some kind of way because they took half of the space away from Matto! The cafe next door! Then I had Thanksgiving here with a friend! The food isn’t average or sub par! It’s comparable to a Michelin restaurant I ate at in Germany! The chef is young and up and coming! Lucky to have scooped him and even better for us locals! The bartender is now a warm acquaintance and with the neighborhood changing so rapidly, us regulars now gather outside at Hamilton Hall! Gavin is a great bartender, China a wonderful waitress, and AJ a future top chef! Mickey is a great owner serving guests on holiday or outside on a cool covid night! The Caesar salad is bomb! A dressing that compliments! The butternut squash soup tastes like autumn! Seeds and creme frache! Thanksgiving was a pre fix menu and honestly I anticipated the worst but was surprised to have amazing course finished with a pecan pie that rivals Baton Rouge Louisiana! And I just ordered the burger! Perfection! I have no complaints! I can’t wait until covid subsides to get a full affect of the interior! Try some of their classics too! Hot toddy does the trick if you’re out late parlaying! I’m so happy to write this review! Support small business! They need us now...

I found this place on the Seated app and decided to check it out. Upon arriving the owner(?), Mickey, asked us if we wanted to be seated by the bar where the game was playing or somewhere quiet. We elected somewhere quiet since we were not into sports.

We ordered the Oysters, Shepherds Pie, and Sears Salmon. Mickey recommended the Coops Island and Great Gunn because we advised we like big oyster. Mickey gave us an additional 2 oysters because he said the remaining GG and CI oysters weren't as big (BIG PLUS!~). I would definitely recommend the Alpine Oysters (it's on the happy hour Mon-Fri 4-8). The Coops Island and Great Gunns followed in taste respectively.

I don't usually order Shepherds Pie but something about the old fashion all American decor made me want to try it. It was very delicious, best one I've had (though I haven't had many). Only caveat was the portion wasn't super filling but the taste more than makes up for it. The Seared Salmon on the order hand looked hearty and tasted very yummy.

Overall, great experience and I'm glad I...

So this place is surprisingly spacious, it has a private rooms section in the back, which will be a great rental space. Decorated really nicely. But the food is a big NO. We got wings and they had the breading on it which it wasn’t my fave. We had a chicken pot pie, which tasted like a chicken soup with a flaky croissant on the side. The 3 bean nacho was great. I wanted to admit to it, which I did, and they had steak, which were burnt. The apple pie was… not good it was pretty presentation. I would just come here for drinks and to watch a game that’s about it.

Awesome food with a laid back chill atmosphere. This restaurant / pub has a very relaxing vibe with a great selection of cocktails. They also have an extensive menu to satisfy that late night cravings. I ordered their signature Hamilton burger, and its one of the best burgers I’ve had in NY. Order it and taste its righteousness. I also got the salmon with risotto that was cooked to perfection. Seriously, this place got everything you need when you pass by Broadway.
