Naju Gomtang has been a staple in this shopping center for many years. They have always been known for their beef rice/noodle soup. Many older and elderly Koreans come here for their soothing and healthy soups.
They recently renovated and I was surprised to see an entirely updated menu with a whole bunch of new items. I have not braved into trying other dishes yet, and have stayed with eating their staples dishes from their old menu. The new menu items are pretty much the same as all other types of Korean restaurants serving similar cuisine in the area, so I feel those dishes will really need to stand out if they want to capture customers from other more established Korean restaurants serving those dishes.
New menu items also meant that have increased their prices, an unfortunate circumstance for you and me as foodies.
Service is average. They leave you alone and don't really pay attention to you unless called for. They do come quickly though if you need something. Just don't expect to have your water refilled or asked if you need anything periodically.
They renovated the space so it feels more spacious. It feels updated but not necessarily a space that blows me away.
Things to order:
First of all, I would have to say that it's all my personal opinion. I went for a lunch special and ordered a pajun and the signature soup, gomtang. Two orders totalled 40 dollars for lunch special price. I think what they meant lunch special by specially over priced lunch. The FOODs, definitely not a special taste, not specially big nor enough compared to their pricing. The gomtang comes out with the rice in it and it is not enough! The size were kids meal compared to other gomtang places. The staffs, I'd have to say they tried but they need more training. Some talks very kindly, some doesn't care when I asked for a help. Asked for a take-out container three times but the only thing the staff gave me was a check and then the receipt to sign. Among the food, staffs and the pricing, I could give nothing a 2 stars or above. I'm really SORRY.... I won't be going back...
Read moreWow—what an incredible experience! This is hands down one of the best authentic Korean restaurants I’ve ever been to. Every dish we ordered was not only packed with flavor but also prepared with such care. You can really taste the freshness in each bite—everything was clean, well-balanced, and absolutely delicious. From the savory stews to the perfectly seasoned side dishes, it felt like a true taste of Korea.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are genuinely kind and attentive. They made us feel right at home, explaining dishes when needed and checking in with the loveliest attitude. It’s clear they take pride in both their food and their service.
