I had been meaning to visit Mad for Chicken for the longest time, and I finally made it out to their Flushing location and let me tell you, it was absolutely worth the wait. While their à la carte menu looked solid, I couldn’t resist diving into the All-You-Can-Eat option. It was the right call ,we went all out.

We kicked things off with a lineup of appetizers. The avocado salad was fresh and creamy, with a good balance between richness and crisp texture. The crabmeat salad was chilled and subtly sweet, light enough to ease into the heavier dishes ahead. The edamame, though simple, came out with just a touch too much salt ,not overwhelming, but enough to notice after a few handfuls. The tteokbokki which is a Korean rice cakes were coated in a classic gochujang-based sauce, spicy and slightly sweet, with that satisfying chew you expect. The fried dumplings, while beautifully crisp and golden on the outside, fell a little flat flavor-wise. The filling seemed sparse ,mostly just glass noodles and lacked that savory punch. I couldn’t help but think a mix of meat and veggies would have brought more depth and dimension to each bite.

Then came the main event the fried chicken, served in all the right forms. I stuck with wings and drumsticks, and they nailed it. The skin was incredibly crisp, the meat tender and juicy. But what really stood out was the sauces Spicy Soy Garlic hit a great balance between salty, garlicky, and spicy. Serrano Chili was sharp and green, with a lingering heat that sneaks up on you. Mango Habanero was sweet at first, then fiery, with a fruity brightness that kept you reaching for more. Kickin Bourbon had this deep, smoky sweetness with a smooth, subtle burn. And Sweet & Spicy was sticky, bold, and dangerously addictive. Every flavor had its own personality and brought something different to the table they weren’t just spicy or sweet, they were layered.

But the highlight? The seafood boil. We ordered it not once, but twice. The first round was bathed in a spicy garlic butter sauce rich, aromatic, and packed with flavor. It came loaded with snow crab legs, shrimp (head off), black mussels, green mussels, corn, potatoes, and hard-boiled eggs. Everything was cooked just right the shrimp were plump, the crab legs tender, and the mussels fresh. As an Asian, I couldn’t pass up pairing it with rice to soak up all that buttery sauce, and I also added a bulgogi over rice bowl on the side. The bulgogi had that classic sweetness, but this version leaned a bit too sweet not the usual balanced savory-sweet flavor I’m used to. It needed a sharper, more distinct note maybe a hint of soy or sesame to cut through and elevate it.

Round two of the boil brought a totally different flavor profile. We went for the spicy lemon pepper sauce, and it was incredible. Bright citrus met warm heat, and together they made the seafood shine. This version came with baby clams, more shrimp, mussels, potatoes, kielbasa sausage, and eggs. The sausage soaked up the sauce beautifully, and every element had a bold, zesty edge that made it completely different from the first round. It felt like we were experiencing two entirely different dishes both excellent in their own way.

To wrap it all up, we ordered the molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. A classic pairing, but done right the cake was warm and gooey in the center, not overly sweet, and paired perfectly with the cold, creamy vanilla ice cream. It was indulgent without being overwhelming a smooth finish to a feast.

Even with a few minor hiccups, the meal was overwhelmingly satisfying. The service was quick and friendly, and despite how much food we ordered, everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The space had a casual vibe, but the food felt like it belonged somewhere more elevated. Overall a good experience and...

4/24/2021 - Love MFC but I'm removing a star for my experience last Sunday. Please feel free to check your cameras around a few minutes to 7 on Sunday, April 24, 2021 and tell me how your employee did not see me standing there.

Ordered pickup to bring some MFC for my mom in Suffolk. Got to MCF, went to the bar area for pickup as usually. I saw three employees facing the cash register, the female on the left was on the phone taking an order (I leaned a little to left to see), the female in the middle was entering an order on the register, the male on the right seem to be helping her. He walks away to fill a pitcher with beer... while he does that he makes eye contact with me them looks away REALLY quick (understandable since not all people are comfortable with eye contact). Girl in the middle prints an order, turns around to find somewhere on the counter to tape the order. Mind you the entire time I'm DIRECTLY IN FRONT of her on the other side of the counter. Guy walks in and to the counter to my left with his phone to show the order he's picking up and the female now STEPS right (Her right) to help him.

PLEASE tell me how she did not see me standing there the whole time waiting. Mind you I'm wearing a white dress with a floral Jacket (mostly reds) and I'm 6ft tall, so chances of missing me aren't high unless done intentional.

I was about to put 1 star but I've had good service there on many occasions to let this one experience completely sour my mood to the place/franchise. I'm chilled when the manager rushed us a bit the weekend before since It's understandable limited space and people waiting for tables. I'm chilled when i go for my pick up order and it's no where to be found. I'm chilled when I called in for 2 orders of wings and only 1 was submitted and completed (hence why I was more comfortable ordering online usually). I'm chilled when I called with my other phone and I have to give my card number over the phone, but it's different when it's my husbands name (another reason I'm more comfortable ordering online and not the phone). I've loved the food there for years... Hell whenever I had to bring food to an event, I'd always pick up MFC (BBQ, work potluck, thank you to someone, someone house party, etc).

2018 - Love love love... staff are friendly and the food is good. Crack...

I believe in second chances! Do you?

I have been to Mad for Chicken twice now. I enjoyed it so much the first time, I decided to come back and brought some friends. This time it was not as good as the first. They set the bar so high that I was somewhat disappointed my 2nd time here.

The good.... *AMAZING WINGS! Super crunchy on the outside and super moist on the inside. If you like SPICY, these are SPICY! Some of my friends were crying because of how hot these wings are. It comes with a cup of pickled radish and a cup of creamy sweet corn. *Beer Sangria....They only have it by the glass and not pitchers darn! *Parmesan fries...another crunchy on the outside dish, soft potato on the inside, not a bit greasy. Served with a chipotle mayo and ketchup. *Fried dumplings..Super crunchy shell, super spicy sauce and super tasty! *If you check in on Facebook or Instagram (why not YELP huh???) you get a free frozen yogurt. You are going to need it to put out the fire in your mouth after eating these wings! There was 7 of us and they only gave us 2 yogurts.

The bad.... *They don't take reservations for the weekend. *We ordered Truffle fries along with a basket of Parmesan fries....they are basically the same thing except one has a couple of drops of truffle oil which just makes them taste too greasy. SKIP IT! *Most of the beers they offer on their menu or that were written on the chalk board were not available. *Parking is a little difficult....meter street parking.

The ugly.... *Our server told us they were short staffed in the kitchen that night this is why our order came out in bits and pieces. Our apps came out after our meal! They forgot a few things so we had to remind them. *They got my order totally wrong. I told our server that I was so disappointed and he offered me a free drink for getting my order wrong. Nice right?!? EEEHHHH....more like Nice try! I ordered another beer sangria which was more of the Coors light than Sangria.

So while the service was off par this time around, the food was still freakin fantastic! I am going to give them another chance because I am so MAD...

Came here during their soft opening upon walking back from Long Island City with my brother. We had been waiting for this location to open for a while, since the one we usually went to was all the way deep in Northern Blvd- Flushing. Gotta love that this location is much closer to my house. We were asked if we wanted to dine outdoor or indoor (their inside was HUGE and had two floors which was could fit quite a number of people to accommodate the 25% capacity limit). We opted for the outdoor as it was a beautiful day outside. We ordered the Fried Dumplings (pork & beef filling), Parmesan fries, and a medium order of wings (12 pieces- Half Spicy and Half Soy Garlic). The fried dumplings was coated with the sauce similar to the spicy wings which I loved. I found the Parmesan fries okay, as I am normally not a Parmesan fan (but hey if you are a fan, you would definitely enjoy). The wings were delicious, though I felt that the sauce was missing a little depth, that you would normally get from other places like Bonchon. The coating of the wings, was thin enough that it did not overpower the flavor and texture of the meat of the chicken. I did not find the spicy wings were as spicy as I remembered from the other Mad for Chicken location. With regards to the service, they were friendly and attentive (and warned us ahead of time that the wings would take 25-30 minutes). They also handled a customer’s complaint in a professional manner, as the person had waited for almost 40 minutes and yet to receive his food. If you are ever in the Sunnyside area, I definitely recommend this place for some Korean fried chicken. Also, if you are in the mood for coffee/ tea/ matcha, there is a cafe on the same block called Mad Cafe.
