I just went to this restaurant on Sunday, September 3, 2023. I was craving some authentic Indian food. I read the reviews and decided to go with my husband and a friend. The people were relatively friendly. The food on the other hand was very disappointing. Our server was gracious, but that could not compensate for the food.
First I was quite surprised at the speed at which the food came to our table. When the food arrived, it was not very hot. That was my first red flag. I’ve been to Indian restaurants and when the food arrived at the table it was hot, aromatic and mouthwatering….this was not.
The potato and cauliflower curry (forgot the name) was clumpy and tasted like it had been sitting around for a while and they just hurriedly put it in a microwave.
The salmon curry got a C-, hot, not flavorful. The curried okras were horrible. The okras tasted like they were months old. Every mouthful contained hard pieces that had to be expelled from the oral cavity because of the difficulty in swallowing. To their credit, they did not charge us for the okras. I spoke with the server and asked her if the food was freshly prepared. I know that some prep and that sauces etc. are premade…but this meal tasted like it had been made from the previous day or early morning and heated up in a microwave.
Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Our friend took doggy bags, not because it was so tasty, but because we had paid for it, and she could probably work magic with it home. I wouldn’t waste my time
I will never go back to this restaurant. Restaurant owners must respect that the customer works hard for their money, and when they go out to eat its because they want something that is authentic, fresh, hot and tasty. I don’t know if it was authentic, but it certainly wasn’t hot nor did it taste fresh. The mango lassi and naan bread were the best tasting items on our order. I'm sorry I couldn't...
Read moreI have a love affair with Butter Chicken, no matter where my work takes me, US, Europe, UK, Thailand or a Timbuktu I always find the best butter chicken. Same is what I did in Queens too, I had been traveling for work in the US and visited few friends at Hillside and in search of food our soul wandered on the roads.. This is when we entered this not be missed joint on the main road. They serve two variants of Butter chicken( boneless and with bones), both tasted so heavenly that we ate a lot and took away a lot too... This is by far the best butter chicken I have eaten and gives a strong competition to Delhi's recipe or maybe better than them. Enjoyed the chicken with Garlic naan which was very well done too.. Along with the soul food I dug deep into their Chicken Biryani and yet again one of the most amazing biryani's I've had in a long time. We had a vegetarian along with us and he loved the soya chili along with the absolutely delicious noodles. We ate the Dal Balti on recommendation of the owner and I am glad we did, one of the best mixed dals ever.. Went back thrice and tried lot of other dishes and everything is amazing and pocket friendly...
Not to miss are the Ice Creams (Pan+ Rose+ Malai Kulfi) and the Kulfi Falooda... I am itching to go back to the US and visit Namaste over and over again....
Highly recommend the place and also request the people who run the place to advertise well as this place is an absolute delight for anyone who loves...
Read moreOne of the best Indian restaurant I have been too hands down. The food is amazing every single time. We have been there so many times since me and my friend was looking to eat after watching a late night movie. We take all our friends or guest who are out of town as this place’s veg and non-veg is AMAZING. For example we went to Canada and ate at some Indian restaurants but it was not as good as we were hoping. As soon as we back in Queens we went straight to Namaste and finally enjoy a great meal. We were the first ones to order the paneer tikka masala when it was not even on the menu, we ordered so much of it that they finally put it on the newer menus. I also love the new tables and chairs, they are more comfortable as we stay for a long time. God I can’t until this quarantine is over so I can go with my family and friends for dinner. The only thing I would change is the hours, they need to go back when they use to stay open really late. Stop wasting your hard earned money on other Mediocre Indian restaurants with 5 stars review and come to this place. Trust me I have been to some of the 5 star restaurants all over queens, Manhattan, Long Island, New Jersey and lets not forget Canada and the food was a disappointment. The food at namaste has set a standard for us and we compare it all other Indian restaurants, and thats why we just keep...
