I would just like to share a feel good story as we are living in some pretty turbulent times & it’s the small acts of kindness in such that I experienced today that humbles me and puts a smile on my face from ear to ear. So I will start off by saying I am obsessed with Northside Bakery. As someone who immigrated here from Poland, when I crave authentic food, soups and home baked breads & goods, this is THE PLACE! If you haven’t visited this neighborhood gem, you’re missing out. Yesterday I went to pick up the raspberry cloud cake as it is literally the greatest dessert I’ve ever had, my friends and family agree. I messaged the owner today inquiring if they have anymore left as my FIL is celebrating his birthday tomorrow & he said he only wants that cake lol and the owners went above and beyond dropping it off at my door on their way home 😭🥰 they are also constantly active and involved in supporting the community. It was my first time there and I guess since I wasn’t polish I was annoying to the girls serving customers. I am not familiar with polish food and desserts and I was asking questions and I saw the 2 girls serving, rolling their eyes at each other after I asked about the food. I asked what were some of the foods and pastries there and I was answered in a tone like I should have known. I wasn’t offered a bag or utensils for my food purchases but other customers were asked if they wanted a bag and utensils and napkins. That confirmed my suspicions. I was treated differently maybe because I wasn’t polish? It was my first time going there and my last. The food wasn’t so great in my opinion anyway.
