Chances are, if you're not from the immediate area (i.e., Glendale) and you're definitely not a regular or even a semi-regular at this place, you'll get the cold shoulder from most of the waitresses here. I'm from Ridgewood, so I suppose that's practically a world away for these folks, even though Glendale and Ridgewood are technically next-door neighbours.
I came here on the Saturday of a long holiday (Labor Day) weekend. After perusing the old-school diner menu for upwards of five minutes, I decided on a breakfast platter.
My breakfast platter consisted of two scrambled eggs (you get to choose the style of egg preparation, which is routine when you order eggs at a diner), two standard-size slices of white toast (wheat or other kinds are not an option, on the menu or otherwise) and home fries. The eggs were good enough, the toast was basic but made more palatable thanks to the runny butter spread all over, but the home fries were like eating slimy discs of rubber erasers. My husband believed the potatoes used in the platter were at least two weeks old. Perhaps that was the case but these were among some of the worst home fries I'd ever had at a diner. The overall portion size of the breakfast platter was generous enough, though. Whether due to the overall portion size itself or my particular dislike of the home fries, I predictably did not finish it. For the individual components, I would give the eggs 4/5, the toast 3.5/5 and the home fries a 1/5.
Both my husband and I also had the iced coffee from this diner. It was quite bland and tasteless and made only a bit better with the small serving of sugar I allowed myself to dispense into my glass.
Though I'd been to this diner at least once before, it was very long ago (pre-pandemic) and due to my own brain fog these days, I cannot remember what my previous experience dining here was like. However, this go-around, I can only give my experience a 2.5/5...
Read moreI had to come back on , and write a review. I Love this place. Been coming here for years, and I have recommended Sooooo many people to this diner. With that being said, a diner, restaurant, or any other establishment that deals with food, need to have the four corners covered. Let's begin at the top. 1). OWNER/MANAGER: Greeting people when they walk into your place of business is the beginning of making someone feel welcomed and comfortable. I Like That The Owners Do That. So Thank you . 2). STAFF: The waitresses are AMAZING!!! LOVE THEM!!! 3.) COST: This establishment is GREAT on pricing. Thank you so much for that! It makes it easier for family's to come together and enjoy some food, conversation, and laughter. AND LASTLY, THE 4th CORNER is the biggest piece of the square. It holds everything else in place and completes the square. 4). THE CHEF: the chef is what makes the restaurant/establishment. If the FOOD is fresh and good, people will flock back everytime, and bring some with them. If the FOOD is bad, or half, half, people will seek another. It doesn't matter if one has an elegant establishment OR a rinky dink establishment. It's the FOOD that makes your place. With that being said, something is going on with the food in this diner. It's not the same. If they changed the chef, that's really sad, because the food use to be SOOO Fresh, and Sooo delicious. The last couple of times i went it was not the same. Also, my family members told me they went about a month or two ago, and the experience they had was not so good. They even said, i dont know whats going on, it was not good. We want to see the continue success in this place, not the grade falling . We wish you the Best!! And hope...
Read moreI came for dinner . I ordered shrimp pasta primavera. I got this orange pasta with thick round slices of carrots, brocoli & cauliflower. I asked the waitress, she called the manager to "take care of this". I show the manager a pic of several shrimp pasta primaveras i goggled. He asks to himself why do they put it on the website so differently than what they serve. He tells me, "thats how they do it here". I pointed out how completely different the two pastas look, he keeps saying "thats how they do it". To avoid sending it back and embarrassing the place, i tell the manager i will eat it because it's already made but to be mindful that what they brought me is not what i ordered. He says ok. I take a few bites and i cant really stomach it. I leave the plate nearly full and start getting ready to go, the waitress brings me the check. I get up to pay it, the manager apologizes for the confusion. I tell him, it happens. I also tell him i am leaving as hungry as i came in. He says he's sorry. He doesnt look at my eyes but he takes my card snd runs it for payment. I tell him the food wasnt good. He says he's sorry, but i dont believe him because he is still charging my card $23.60!! I left feeling super disappointed that they charged a dissatisfied custmer for food that was not ordered or enjoyable. They are good for breakfast, but i wouldnt order the pasta or seafood. Dinner disappointed me on more than one occasions but always gabe tthought to it was a...
