Quaint little ramen shop in Far Rockaway that's kind of easy to miss by car, but not by walking. A craving for hot food on a rainy January day led me to this particular spot.
It was a surprise to even find it, as ramen seems to be more of a Brooklyn-Manhattan type of food run. But I digress.
The visit consisted of trying the miso ramen - I had yet to come across a miso ramen that wasn't overpowering with the sodium. Soy has a distinct taste to it (hint of sodium) and most miso ramen bowls I've had were basically bent on drowning one's tastebuds with sodium so that soy and sodium would always be a tandem combination.
Thank Heaven that Oasis finally got the balance that I was looking for in a miso broth. I could taste the salt, but also the soy itself.
Accompanying the ramen were the standard takoyaki and shumai - both were decently good in their own right, but nothing to really write home about.
The food is served on takeout containers - no complaint for me, since it makes it easier to bring any leftovers home.
Overall, the experience was pleasant and comforting, given how dreary the weather was. I hope to try the tonkotsu (my go-to) on the next ramen craving. At least I won't have to travel all the way to Brooklyn or Manhattan to get...
Read moreThis is not only in an area with lots of food choices and close to the beach, the atmosphere inside is cooling and cozy, I love the look and I've been a customer here for over 8 years. Their food is absolutely delicious and I always come here when I'm in need of a cheap, great meal. The staff are continuously friendly throughout all of these years and have never slipped up on my orders, I always get what I order regardless where I do. I've ordered in person, dined in, and ordered via app like doordash. Prices are the same and food is always amazing and cheap. The employees are also incredibly nice, always help out and have never ever given me a hard time even if I spilled anything or made a mistake on an order. Awesome place and food overall and even...
Read moreA lot of these reviews must be fake because I ordered three things and not one of them were of good quality. So I decided to try something new and ordered shrimp dumplings, fried icecream, and a soupâŠ. Look at the raw egg in my food and how itâs brown like itâs been sitting out rotting away⊠the shrimp dumplings are made with FAKE imitation shrimp!! The lowest quality âshrimpâ they could get their hands on⊠& the fried icecream should not be served to anyone. Itâs disgusting! It tastes exactly how it looks⊠nasty! It was also fried in OLD grease⊠you can smell the old oil coming off of it. Iâm a big foodie and I hardly ever complain but they should not have...
