We ate here two times. First time it the service was good, the food is ok not the best not the worst for the price. Second time few months later we went to eat dinner and while we were eating we saw the people sitting at the table in front of us just jumped up and left the place with their food all sitting on the table. I should have listen to my wife when she said "I think they saw something". So we ate our dinner and after we finished eating our dinner my wife jumped up and pointed at the wall which was touching our table because there were two roaches crawling on the wall! We knew now why the other table ran away without eating their food. We told this to the manager and were advised that the exterminator is there on regular basis, but I do not believe that. I never seen roaches in the restaurant crawling right in front of me. I was not shocked though because this is New York City and its always infested with all kinds of nasty critters but we were not sitting in the kitchen, we were actually in the outdoor section; which means the infestation is so severe in that place that the roaches come running towards any food they smell. This was very disturbing because if we saw roaches on the wall I can imagine how the place is behind the closed doors where...
Read moreWe went there yesterday with friends, was our first time, we ordered different stuff, me meat adana kebab, other friend gyro, another one iskender kebab, we brought our own wine (you can do that) adana was great, very juicy, cooked throughly, not burnt, we had some meze stuff, eggplant salad was great, hummus, babaghonush, tabuli likewise.. And fried calamari, very tender & crispy.. They also brought a “balloon bread” which is hard to find in NY, they don’t charge extra for that.. Friends loved gyro & iskender (and we exchanged some food ), waiter said they make them with lamb meat mixed, no ground meat (95% of these places use ground meat, which doesn't give same taste) Service was fast, meze stuff they brought rightaway, others in like 10-12 minutes..
There was a talented young singer & guitarist guy (that was a Saturday night) he played nice classic pop/rock songs, asked us if we wanted some particular song(s) we requested a few songs and he played them very well, which was very nice and not that common in this neighborhood.. We'll definitely go there again !!! Strongly...
Read morethe calamari we ordered was good, the rest of the menu fell short. The chicken kebab shish sandwich was badly burnt and only had two small pieces of chicken, while the lamb gyro was quite chewy. Additionally, the lack of options for drinks was disappointing, with only canned soda available and no option for ice.
Despite these disappointments, the service at Oba Grill was excellent and the atmosphere was pleasant. My wife and I enjoyed the restaurant's nice ambiance.
On a positive note, we did try the fettuccine and it was incredible, despite the fact that it is not an Italian restaurant. We were also impressed with the wrap we ordered, which was fantastic. Overall, while the food left much to be desired, the exceptional service and atmosphere, as well as the standout dishes of fettuccine and wrap, earned Oba Grill an...
