Highly overpriced.
And utterly deceptive...
Or at least, two out of two sales clerks were very sorely misinformed.
On my first visit, the clerk -- female clerk with dark hair -- insisted and went into high detail about how the truffles are made only made daily in their own private kitchen. I asked repeatedly, "These truffles are made daily? These truffles are made today? You don't sell them if they are a day old?" Yes, yes, and yes. Of course, I loaded up.
On my second visit, the male clerk stated no, they are not made daily. Nothing special about that. I could have ordered them online direct from other chocolatiers rather than wondering how long the truffles have been sitting in their case enough to develop cracking and stale taste, which they had. Why did two clerks in a row assertively lie to me? Or at the minimum, misrepresent based on their own ignorance?
I understand they have to support their Copley rent, but selling under false pretenses makes me never want to go there again.
Also, they sell -- admittedly at a discount, but not enough to negate their markup -- expired products. Watch out for the expiration dates. They should be selling expired products at wholesale value! Or not at all! Not to mention the coffee I bought gave me a stomach virus since they used expired milk in that as well.

Read moreSo disappointing. I have lived here in the neighborhood for over a decade and gone here throughout the years. I have never received service like this. I understand that I entered 10 minutes before closing time but that really is not an excuse for damaging the reputation of a forest hills and queens staple. We were immediately met by a rude employee who told us they were closing, she also promptly let us know they could not make us drinks because they needed to start cleaning the machine. OK, although I have been in the service industry in NYC for 10+ years, I understand it can be frustrating to make drinks at the end of the shift. She again told us that they are closing in a few minutes. We asked about the price of the chocolates with rum and she told us "if you can read, the price is on top". She told us then that we can keep looking but that they were going to lock the door behind us. We asked to pay as quickly as possible. As the door was closing behind us we could feel the grate lowering on the storefront.
This coupled with the audacity of the standardized tip menu was an outrage. I hope this woman does not work here long enough to tarnish or cause bad association with this loving small business. I will try to push this out of my mind and focus on good memories when kids trick or treat, go for some sweets after school or Aigner participates in...

The staff is incredibly friendly, and it's clear they love what they do. Even the manager is out on the floor, welcoming customers and making sure everyone feels right at home. It’s that kind of warm, personal touch that makes this place stand out.
Aigner is more than just a chocolate shop—it's a delicious addition to the neighborhood, and one you’ll find yourself returning to...
