Poetica Coffee — Restaurant in New York

this is hands down my favorite coffee shop in the area. i spent a year studying for my medical board exam here. an outdoor area, full of plants and natural lighting, on a quiet street is nearly impossible to find, yet poetica provides. in the winter they cover the outdoor area and provide heaters, so you’ll always have a way to soak up the sun.

on top of the excellent coffee and pastries, what truly keeps me coming back are andre, grace, and nora. all three of them are so genuinely kind, compassionate, and interesting people. i can be quite shy, but have been blessed with the opportunity to get to know them over the years. they always ask about me and how school is going, and even on the worst of days, as soon as i come in, i have a smile on my face.

Was a big fan of Parade before Poetica took over, and I was quite surprised by the sudden change but wanted to give it a chance anyway. I was incredibly disappointed with the coffee which seems to be their own roast. I was even more disappointed that they kept Parade's sandwich menu but without all the bread options. The final straw is this sign they keep outside. This is a very negative way to say "hello" to the neighborhood considering that Parade sold pumpkin flavored drinks. It's like saying to anyone who enjoyed that "We don't want your money, ever".

One of the coziest places in Brooklyn. Always a warm welcome, original coffee (with alternative milk), delicious desserts and a well-planned spacious room. Prices are very affordable, great selection of desserts. View of a quiet street from the window. The ability to pour a glass of water is also a big plus. Coffee drinks are light and unobtrusive.
