Terrace Coffee Shop — Restaurant in New York

Damn, I leave this poor review with a heavy heart. For 10+ years this was my favorite go-to diner for delivery. I had noticed the quality declining over the years but gave them some grace since the price of everything has been going up so when the blueberry pancakes had a sad sprinkling of blueberries (for a $3 up charge), I looked the other way.

Today, I ordered a coffee with my meal and they sent a small when I ordered a large. Not the end of the world but I do call restaurants and ask for a refund of the item when my order is wrong and usually they do so without issue.

I called asking for a refund of the difference in price only and was told they only have one size coffee. I informed them that the app I ordered from gave the option of large or small and I ordered a large at which point I was told there's only one size (small) and it's the cost of the large. I told them they need to update their apps because that's not what's advertised and asked for a full refund of the coffee. I was told that I would need to return the coffee to a delivery person in order to get a full refund.

When I called back 20 minutes later to ask if they were sending a delivery person to get the coffee, I heard the person I spoke to in the background mocking me for complaining.

Now, if you're not gonna update the prices and sizes you advertise, the least you can do is make things right when it is pointed out to you that you need to update the prices and sizes you advertise. I didn't miraculously force a large coffee into my order in open defiance of their new and unannounced one size only rule. Not to mention, that person was probably lying just to be a dick. It's strange to me that the response would be so lacking in customer service over what was THEIR simple mistake.

I'm updating my review, I've been back a few times. Really good Mexican food! I had the Al Pastor tacos—now they aren't like what you'd expect for an Al Pastor taco—they are more like a carnita (pulled pork), they are really good but that one time they were so tasty, lately the meat hasn't been as seasoned. There's a little guacamole, sauce and onions on it, the tortillas are fried and tasty. The meat had a little sweetness to it like BBQd pulled pork. My friend had a tortilla soup that was also delicious (this is still excellent). The tortilla pieces were fried and had a nice slightly crunchy texture and the soup had a nice tomato flavor. And we had a side of chips and guacamole. That was also freshly made and tasty. I gave 4 stars for the service because it took a little long to get the order but everything was freshly made so it's worth the wait. Ambience? It's a diner but I love those kinds of place. Food's OK. Service is comically slow and inattentive bordering on apathetic. At the time I dropped in, I was one of what I thought were two customers, me and a guy in another booth on a cellphone. I had to ask where the menus were. Phone guy pointed them out, turns out he worked there. Needlessly lengthy wait, finally phone guy paused his conversation long enough to take my order (a cheeseburger). Another needlessly lengthy wait, to the point of absurdity & starting to think "maybe I should just walk out of here." Finally the food arrived. It was fine. The cherry on top of the whole experience was when I went to pay; the employee couldn't figure out the payment system. I'm still waiting. I live here now. Just kidding. He figured it out in the end.
