My brother and I were starving after running around shopping for renovation materials. We still had lots to do and didn't want to do a sit-in restaurant, but didn't want the typical fast food joints either. After consulting the Yelp world, we realized that we were just a few feet away from the best reviewed place in the area, right in the parking lot of Home Depot, so we decided to give it a shot.
The guys behind the counter were extremely patient and friendly while we were trying to decide what to eat. They were preparing for the lunch crowd, so they had sausages, onions, and peppers already cooking on the grill.
After reviewing their menu and asking them what their specialty was, we settled on sharing an extra large (which means extra meat) Philly-style Cheesesteak with grilled peppers and onions, with provolone cheese. The cashier also provided us little containers of his homemade hot sauce.
This fresh, hot sandwich was mouth-wateringly delicious! The just-cooked, thin slices of beef, combined with the grilled peppers and onions were so juicy! The Provolone cheese was smartly melted on top to keep it all together inside the soft hero roll. After taking a bite of the sandwich the way it was served, I added the homemade hot sauce because I love spice! The hot sauce gave the sandwich a nice extra kick, even though it was delicious enough without it. The hot sauce was tangy and salty, and gave more heat than the standard bottled hot sauces. It was a good complement to...
Read moreI like this place a lot. I will go out of my way just to get a sandwich here because of how good it is. Yes, it is a small hole in the wall right next to a Home Depot, but aren't the best places to eat small holes in a wall. So far from what I've gathered, it's the best place for a Philly cheesesteak in New York City that I've had so far. I'm not discounting other places, I just haven't tried them yet. They even have a new sandwich that's a mixture of chicken, steak and their sausage with cheese onions and peppers which is absolutely delicious as well. I apologize but I don't remember the name, but there's a sign that will direct you to it, if they're still making it. I probably spent a little over twenty bucks this time by myself when I went because I got there new special sandwich that cost twenty bucks because of everything that's in it. I got to tell you, it was delicious. I did however ask them to instead put more steak instead of chicken because I just didn't want chicken at the time, but I'm sure the chicken is good as well. I look forward to going back another time when I'm in the mood for a...
Read moreNothing like a philly cheese steak joint right outside Home Depot to satisfy the stress hunger that comes after spending too much money on house things you didn't NEED for 4,000 hours.
But really, they serve up some great subs. Got the philly cheese steak OBVIOUSLY and a sausage and peppers for my fiance. YUM. They just do it right. They use the right ingredients, they don't try and sass it up and create "new and improved" versions of anything. It's perfect just the way it is. Greasy, cheesy, and delicious.
Service is friendly enough, and very efficient. Lines are usually long, but move quickly. Good sign. Gives you just enough time to salivate over literally everything they're cooking up in time to make a decision.
Beware: CASH ONLY and nothing inside tells you that...you may have to go back inside HD to buy a reeses peanut butter cup with a card just to take cash out from the self service...
