Rocky's Pizza Bar — Restaurant in New York

A bunch of great friends took us to dinner here last night for local , casual , fun group birthday celebration, and it’s was so delicious! Highly recommend this new pizzeria/resturant. We an excellent artichoke salad, Fantastic FRISTO MISTO (fried Calamari rings with, Zucchini, Shrimp, and Cherry Peppers) , Also had and loved the SAUSAGE RING AND BROCCOLI RABE. As for pastas we had the very yummy SPICY VOKDA( ORECCHIETTE), and the PORCINI TAGLIATELLE pasta dish (Porcini Mushrooms, Cremini Mushrooms, White Mushrooms, White Wine Sauce), and was incredible!!, For pizzas we had the Dirty Don pie (Spicy Vodka Sauce, Pepperoni Cups, Stracciatella Cheese, Mike's Hot Honey, Fresh Mozzarella, Basil) , which was so delicious and so different and Who knew that hot honey was so good! I was super excited to come here, but this was disappointing to say the least. The pizza is not good. It almost tasted ”pre-made” - the cheese wasn’t very good, the overall vibe felt more like frozen pizza. A bit stingy on the pepperoni too. For a place that calls itself a pizza bar, you must have good pizza - Rocky’s misses the mark.

The highlight of the meal were the mozzarella sticks - they were good. Nonna’s sliders also really good, but it didn’t matter, because the pizza was so bad.

The service was good, but the ambiance in this place was lame. 1950’s music, boring vibe. Supposed to be a pizza bar, felt more like a traditional Italian restaurant that lacked identity.

My review last night of the place. There was so much food for our tasting. I couldn't even finish everything. Wound up taking some stuff home. We had 3 different kinds of pizza. The Margherita pie was the best one. Meatball sliders, 2 types of homemade pasta, chicken parm, cheesesteak egg rolls, 2 kinds of wings and steak sandwiches. Might have been more, I didn't take any pictures though. Dessert was tiramisu, mini cannolis and mini cheesecake. Definitely well worth the price and the company was good. The owner, Rob Deluca, kept going back and forth between the 2 restaurants to make sure everything was ok. If you enjoy old school Italian food, then go check the place out.
