Actually I was so enthusiastic about this place until I experienced so much prejudice. At first I thought it was a language barrier until I found out that they're in the HOOD taking with no giveback. I went to pickup a catering order and asked to use the restroom and was told no. Photo to follow. I explained that I'm picking up a major catering order that was up to $700 and I can't use the restroom? I was incredulous. He insisted that I pay $2.00 like all non-customers. To top it off, the restaurant had me wait almost 2 hours to retrieve the order. This restaurant Makana, unfortunately is not the go to for me. That's just for me...

Their sushi looks suspicious. I ordered their poke bowl and the only thing that was edible was the rice and salmon. My daughter ordered the crunchy salmon and she could only eat one. For the regular salmon roll, she said it was ok but the rest was not edible. The pictures is what we left at the table cause we couldn’t eat it. It was nasty. When told the manager, he said it was fine and turned his back on us. So we asked to get our tip back. I gave them a large tip. I let them keep the cost of food, but the tip for good service, I took that back. I guess we’re done here. 🤢🤮

Not the best place for quality pokebowls. The only thing that kept our spirits up were the bubble teas. Those were great and refreshing. Our pork nachos were super runny from the cole slaw and my boyfriend had to ask them to remake them it was soaked. My pokebowl was disappointing and the kale salad was what you would expect from a kale salad. Would never come back unless craving a bubble tea.

I first started ordering from Makana back in 2020—desperate times, desperate decisions. Even then, the service was cold, indifferent, and frankly, unpleasant. There’s no sense of hospitality or appreciation for your business. It always felt like I was inconveniencing them just by placing an order. But I was hungry and options were limited, so I let it slide.

That grace ended in 2023 when I was charged $2 for a condiment. Yes, you read that right—two dollars for a sad little container of salty wet seasoning. When I raised the issue, they were completely unbothered. I walked out and swore I was done.

Fast forward to today—a rainy day, a lapse in judgment, and I gave them another shot. Big mistake. They tried to charge me another $2 for sauce, again. When I questioned the price, the cashier conferred with the manager, who came out already defensive and annoyed. Instead of offering an explanation with any semblance of customer care, he launched into a rant about covering the cost of lights, staff, and rent.

Sir, that’s the cost of doing business—not the customer's burden to bear through overpriced condiments.

The entire exchange was off-putting, unnecessarily hostile, and a reminder that Makana has no interest in building community or loyalty—just in squeezing pennies from people who are simply trying to eat.

I won’t be back. And if they do go out of business, it won’t be a mystery—it will be the natural result of their own arrogance, poor customer service, and nickel-and-dime approach to hospitality.

That rude, flat-faced manager won’t see another...

This place sucks. Tried to place an order. I was put on hold for ten minutes. I hung up and called back. This guy answers the phone with a nasty attitude saying, i know, hold on and puts me on hold again. When he finally comes back i placed my order. He said the item was not on the menu. I had to refer him back to the menu which clearly showed the item. No apology, just another attitude. I asked for the manager which turned out to be him. I then had someone else place the order. 15 minutes later we get a call back saying that they cannot fill the order because they ran out of food. My friend asked for a refund. The manager tried to deny the refund and instead offer a store credit. They made the mistake and then tried to steal a customers money. lousy service, lousy attitude and thieves on top of that. Why take a store credit for their mistake, especially when we will never order...

The place is getting progressively worse. I made a delivery order to have the delivery man give me my receipt to sign my signature so that he can throw it on the floor in my hallway with my card number and my signature on it. So I call the Store and access speak to the manager the manager acts me to take a picture and show him the receipt which I did Afterwards he seemed to try and find every reason why it would be OK to leave a receipt That has my card number and my signature Sitting in the hallway for everyone to see Not to mention that I could have easily said that I did not make those charges and they would not have the receipt with my signature to prove that I did. And this is not the 1st incident that had with the delivery people or the fact that the quality of their food is now diminishing. I would not...
