Fun little spot. Atmosphere is delightful, menu is diverse and well-written; every single item sounds delicious when you read their descriptions. However, when the food comes out, everything was a little underwhelming in terms of taste. Allow me to preface this by saying nothing that I've had here was bad. Everything was cooked well, served in a timely manner, and staff is very friendly.
I ordered six sliders (Buffalo Chicken, Dirty Ninja, Southern Jam, Steakhouse, Dirty Colonel, and Bacon Blue), Short Rib Mac n Cheese, Garlic Parm Fries, and Mango Habanero Boneless Wings. The best sliders out of those were the Steakhouse, Buffalo Chicken, and Bacon Blue.
The Garlic Parm Fries were okay. Cheese wasn't totally melted on top, which surprised me at first, but I think it was intentional. Tasted pretty good until you get to the bottom layer of fries, because the cheese is gone by then and the fries were too oily. But the first few people in your party to get to the fries will no doubt enjoy them! Just make sure to ask for ketchup or something to dip them in, unless you prefer them on their own.
The Mango Habanero boneless wings were VERY good. White meat was juicy and tender, the portion was fairly generous, and the sauce was tasty with just the right amount of spice. Hands down my favorite part of the meal. Perfect size for two.
As for the sliders, The Dirty Colonel is their version of the KFC Chicken sandwich, and it was VERY disappointing. Chicken was cooked well, but it was just very bland. Felt like there was no seasoning in the batter, and the toppings and special sauce did not make up for it. Would recommend going for the Buffalo chicken sandwich over the Colonel. Much better taste, the buffalo has a nice kick. The Steakhouse was also REALLY good. Meat was tender and generous, horseradish added a nice kick and didn't overpower the rest of the sandwich. Highly recommend this one! Bacon Blue as well. I feel like you really can't go wrong with a BAcon Blue burger, and this is no different. Nicely done! Every other slider was bland and while the ground beef itself was cooked to a perfect medium, they tasted bland as well. Needed a dash of salt and pepper, at the very least. Dirty Ninja stood out to me as the blandest.
The Short Rib Mac n Cheese was serviceable. Not my preferred style of mac n cheese, I would rather have mac n cheese with a little bit of a thicker cheese, but this could very well be someone's favorite, so I'm not gonna count it against them lol. Give it a shot! Generous serving size, and the rib meat and jalepenos served on top is very good.
One last thing, both me and my dining partner ordered fountain drinks. The soda came out and just tasted off, as if the syrup dispenser was running low or something. Carbonation was a little less than ideal too. This was the same for the free refills. I'm sure it was just a fluke, and normally it's probably fine but I've only been here once so far so I figured I'd mention it.
Overall, unique spot and I'm sure it's a fun place to grab a few drinks. Just prepare yourself to be a little underwhelmed. Not disappointed, just underwhelmed. I like this place and definitely want to try more flavors of the wings and a few other items on the menu, so I will be...
Read moreWe came here years ago for a beer crawl and it was dead - which was great for us. This time, my husband and I came for happy hour - I had just finished finals and we wanted to go somewhere local with great deals. They have great deals for the money - but they have a limit of four items per person (they only have four items on the happy hour menu and they’re super small portions). We ordered boneless wings too and for $10, this is way over priced. For a dollar though (a cheeseburger slider, 4 nuggets (popcorn chicken pieces), a chicken slider and small fries), you can’t really complain but when you order more than the amount and they don’t tell you until after the fact - that’s annoying and also when you think you have more coming yet this small amount of food shows up for two people and a toddler, it really won’t go far. Not to mention, sitting outside is great - until you’re forgotten. We arrived at 415pm and ordered right away yet the waitress didn’t come out until 445pm (we went in and had to ask for service after telling them we were sitting outside), received our drinks at 5pm, our food at 520 (again ordered at 415pm), and our waitress left. Never told us she was leaving or off shift. I had to go in (again) at 545pm to ask what was going on and if we were going to be able to put another order in. I honestly don’t think anyone would have stopped to help us or wait on us unless I had said something. The only saving grace was Becca the bartender (I hope that’s her name - she deserves recognization) because she was on top of her stuff. She had four tables outside compared to the two inside (which were couples) and within minutes of taking over, we were taken care of with food and drinks and checking on us. My husband doesn’t want to come back but in time, we may give it another shot. Especially if they fix...
Read moreFirst off, I love Slidin Dirty in Troy & have sent many people there but I had a very disappointing experience tonight. I dragged my mother who loves a good burger along with my nephew & I. We arrived early around 540 since I figured it would be packed because of homecoming weekend at RPI. I was shocked when we arrived & were told to grab any of the at least 6 or 7 open tables. After 15 min, No one had been near us so I went to door & asked if our table was covered by a waitress & he said that he would send someone right over. A waitress did come over & we ordered our meals along with our drinks since we had had plenty of time to look over menus. 15 min later my Mom & I got our seltzer & waitress said that my 10 yr old nephew's Shirley temple would be right over. 15 min later still no Shirley temple so I went to the bar & asked for one. So about 45 min after ordering, our food arrived, I kept telling my mom & nephew that everything was made to order & that's why it took so long. When food arrived, only 1 of the 2 orders of French fries came & 1 of my mother's 2 sliders was wrong. We told the person who delivered the food & he did offer to get my mother another burger but she was starving so she said she would try it. I asked about the fries & he said another minute, obviously waitress had never put it on our order. The 2nd order of fries arrived as we were finishing our meal , I would have refused them but my nephew reached out & grabbed 1 so I felt bad. The food was delicious as always but service was horrible on a not busy Saturday night. As we were leaving it was definitely crowded but not when we were ordering otherwise I could have let poor service go. Certainly everywhere can have off night, not sure if I'll go back to find out but I know my...
