We were very disappointed in our visit to South Fin Grill. We had seen their instagram and it was beautiful and the food looked great! So we decided to celebrate my fathers 70th birthday there. We are portuguese and usually stick to portuguese restaurants so we wanted something different with a beautiful view. Well we got the view but the service and food was awful. We all decided to get the same thing, the hanger steak. So we ordered 7 hanger steaks, all different temperatures. The waitress was terrible, no personality, she looked like she didnt want to work there, and from what I saw of the other waitresses I was surprised because everyone else had a great energy. So I sat there and watched the kitchen place all of our steaks prepared to be served and they were just sitting there for at least 10 minutes. When she brought them over, she didnt bother to check anyones temperatures and mixed them all up. Now being that it was my fathers celebration, we decided not to complain, we also had my newborn son with us and requesting a redo of all of our meals was out of the question. But as I ate my steak, I become very aggravated, why am I paying $32 for a HORRIBLE steak. It was dry and felt old as well, the salad wasnt fresh and the fries were cold. So I complained to the manager who proceeded to blame me for not speaking up sooner. He offered us all coffees...really? Coffees? Which by the way, when they served us my father's birthday cake, no coffees were offered to order. She decided to offer the coffee once we were completely done with everything. Which normally when you are served dessert, that's when they should ask if you want coffee. We couldve gone to an equally nice restaurant for half the price and amazing food. I'm never the one to complain, but the experience was so bad I just had to do it. I hope no one else...
Read moreI would give this place ZERO stars, but Google doesn't allow it. To begin drinks took 20 min, obviously because they were switching waiters while we waited. A woman took our drink order and the most unintelligent man took her place.
I'm a born and bred true Brooklynite so I speak loudly. Yet this waiter was unable to hear me, perhaps if he paid attention he would have heard me. I had to ask for my water to be refilled and plates to be removed off my table.
My entree was inedible. I was SUPPOSED to get a 1.25 # lobster. And recieved a 0.5# rubber dish with roe. The waiter was aware of this as he brought me a bowl of sauce "because the lobster is clearly dry". I explained it was inedible and the roe needs to be removed and I would like a new dish. He had the hostess bring me back THE SAME plate covered in sauce! Are you serious?! I then sent the plate back a second time and asked for the check. After waiting for 10 min while this fool is apologizing to the table behind me for their drinks not being ready; I had to walk to the front and ask for my check! Then the hostess had the nerve to tell me that she did me the favor of removing the inedible meal! You better have. Then told me she looked at my plate and made the cook staff aware that they should not send out inedible meals. How does that help me now?! Its 9pm on a Sunday and I'm still hungry, out $130 bucks and no where is open!
STAY AWAY IF YOU ARE HUNGRY.
Side note: they will serve you, until you are unable to stand as proven by the drunk woman rolling around in the grass outside. At least she had...
Read moreMy 2 stars are only 2 stars because the food itself is decent. Over the years I had been here for dinner a couple of times, And each time I left disappointed. It had been a while so when my group suggested going there for dinner and drinks afterwards I agreed because I believe in second and third chances. Firstly we waited 10 minutes for a maître D to even come to the front so we could ask for a table. We ordered drinks and a bottle of white wine. When the wine finally came we were told it was warm and the server left it in the ice bucket apparently to cool off?? I mean we didn’t have 30 minutes to cool off a bottle of white wine that should’ve either already been chilled or another option should have been suggested. So we opened it ourselves and asked for ice, which never came. After getting a manager he brought us a colder bottle. Bread took about 40 minutes to come after asking for it three times. At that point we had finished appetizers and the dirty plates sat there for a good 30 minutes. Water was not refreshed. When we finally were able to place our main orders that took a long while and one salad order came about 30 minutes after the rest of us had gotten our meals and we were almost finished eating. If you want to come here come for drinks only and don’t expect too much. Go somewhere else first for dinner. Of course the atmosphere is nice because it’s right on the boardwalk but nothing has improved otherwise...
