9/2/23 We have enjoyed many meals at this establishment, however last night was a "huge disappointment!!" We arrived at 7:30 p.m. at our confirmed reservation, the waitress sat us and we placed are order, a shared appetizer, two entries and two glasses of wine. The waitress placed the order and returned with the drinks.Later the waitress returned to see if we received are appetizer, she went to check and informed us the kitchen staff stated" that they never received our order and it would be taken care of".Time is passing and the first waitress never returned.Another waitress saw that we were sitting, came over and thought we were waiting for dessert. We explained to her the situation and she offered too bring us additional glasses of wine, which I replied,"hopefully they are complementary for we have been waiting 45 minutes",her response was she had to speak to the manager(owner).A few seconds passed and a waiter brought out the two glasses of wine. What would you think?Obviously, it was approved. The appetizer finally arrived at 8:40p.m.We waited 1hour and 10 minutes Ugh!! Soon after that we received the entries ,the food was "excellent!!" as always. Finishing up the check came showing a charge for the additional glasses of wine,20.00.We asked for the owner and he arrived within seconds and stated that the waitress never spoke to him and we need to pay for the glasses of wine.We tried to explain and he was not having any of that. Then in a flip of a moment he changed and said that he would take care of the cost for the two glasses of wine and told us"never come back, you have been banned from this restaurant!!" Hey folks! What do you think?...

The food beckons to those Sunday mornings when you were a kid in an Italian American home - the smell of fresh garlic as it sizzles in high quality olive oil...organic cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, zucchini (and zucchini flowers), eggplant, fresh basilica, . . . all picked from their garden and served to the patrons when in season. Pasta e' fatto in cassa - home made pasta! ravioli that melts in your mouth! Try the pappardelle with fresh tomato and goat cheese! YUM!!
Drink like you are in Rome! Have a negroni, a " Campari spritz," or any other professionally made drinks! Sit on the patio, close your eyes, and you will find yourself somewhere in an off the beaten path family ristorante in southern Italy!
AND BRING YOUR KIDS! This is a KID FRIENDLY place - and one day your kids will remember this lovely place that makes you feel like...
Read moreBasilio Inn is a very quaint restaurant located just over the Verrazano Bridge on Staten Island. We went there this past Saturday for our anniversary with family and friends. The exterior of the establishment is set in what looks like a home turned into a restaurant. It’s at the end of the block, look for the Red Vespa motorcycle parked outside.
We were truly impressed by the ambiance, the food, as well as the service. The staff were attentive, pleasant and on point. My wife ordered their Pork Ossobuco, lovely. I had the Pappardelle Pasta with a velvety Veal Ragu, excellent. Basilio does make their pasta’s fresh and it was a game changer.
Our guests ordered Veal Scalloppine with mozzarella and prosciutto, and Branzino. All dishes were well received and the presentation was nice. With so many Italian restaurants on Staten Island, it can be difficult to choose one that understands simplicity and consistency are the benchmarks to longevity in the business. It’s no wonder why they’ve been in business for over 100...
