Spanglish Bayside — Restaurant in New York

My boyfriend and I went to eat around 11/12(An hour before they close which they confirmed won’t be an issue over the phone), and right away the waitress seemed unfriendly. The music was so loud we had to yell to talk. We politely asked the bartender if it could be lowered since the place was nearly empty, but he brushed us off. When we asked the waitress, she agreed with an attitude. It would’ve made sense for the music to be that loud if the place was jam packed with people since it turns into a lounge at night but never did we go to a lounge/restaurant with an open kitchen who blasted music like we were at a club especially when it’s empty and about to close. - So given how there were only a few people there who came there to EAT, not dance, and they were closing soon, it didn’t make sense why they made a big deal about the music. Because it was unnecessarily loud. Why would anyone wanna dine at a place with music as loud as a club, when there’s literally almost no one there and the place is literally a restaurant.

We tried combining two small tables for more space since it wasn’t busy and we planned to order a lot, but the waitress kept separating them without saying anything. When we politely asked to keep them together, she rolled her eyes and said “whatever” before walking off.

When we told the bartender she had an attitude, he immediately defended her without even knowing what happened. No manager was available either.

Terrible service—I don’t recommend this...

If you like small portions and high prices, then this place might be for you.

My partner and I came here on a Friday afternoon. A lot of the reviews would lead you to believe that this place is jumpin' 24/7. For us, it was a ghost town. Not a single other customer from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. And based on our experience, I can certainly see why.

From the get-go, this restaurant screamed "Fusion." That being "Lots of window-dressing to distract you from the fact that you're being ripped off." And I don't use the word "ripped off" lightly. But when the SET of 3 taquerias we ordered were roughly equal to the size of ONE at a lot of other Mexican restaurants, you know this isn't gonna end well. And the taquerias were barely filled. I can take tiny tacos if they're at least stuffed to the gills with meat, cheese and veggies. These were so empty, I talked into one of them and thought I heard an echo.

The drinks were fine, but it hardly made up for the fact that even after finishing our meal AND a side of chips and guac, we were still hungry. The 3.75% fee for credit card payments was just icing on the venerable cake.

I don't know why this restaurant has so many positive reviews, but I suspect a lot of them are either fake or by tourists.

Came in on a Thursday night because it was advertised as Ladies NDrinks $5 all night. The signage never specified only the ladies drinks, just drinks. Even still, I asked the waiter what drinks are $5, she told me and I ordered 2. My partner ordered a frozen margarita which was not apart of the special. The waiter then brung one small almost shot sized glass, and then a regular glass margarita was given to my partner. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to make an issue. I took both glasses and drunk both. The bill comes with 1 margarita full price, the other $5. I simply asked why was one charged full price and one wasn’t, the waiter stated that she assumed the other glass was for my partner so it was full price. I said well it wasn’t I drunk it so would it be able to be changed. I was met with hostility, and attitude, two separate managers come over to tell me that I was wrong. One even told me that it should have been “ common sense” that I can’t order two drinks. All this commotion to change a $12 drink to $5…. Disgusting. The food and drinks were NOT worth the commotion and I would not return. Oh and after I showed the manager who I was ( a large food blogger in nyc) she then comped all of the drinks.. which was a bigger loss than the $7 I originally...
