Still waiting for the owner to call back it’s been 2 months so i’m gonna leave this review here

Well first off, let me start by saying that I’m ok. This is thanks to my wife and her quick thinking action of giving me my EpiPen and the paramedics thankfully coming in less then 5 minutes because if they hadn’t, I can promise you, I would wouldn’t be here now . I hate to feel like I have to bash any businesses but I am extremely sad and shocked because I love this place (well now I have to say I did ). I will start off by saying I have a severe allergy to all NUTS. I do not allow them in my home and I am extremely careful on where I eat in and out of my home. I specifically ask places what type of oils are used or if any nuts are used in dishes. And if there is a slightest doubt, I do not trust it and leave. With that being said today I placed an order from your company Martha’s Bakery via Ubereats. Now I typical order from here regularly just not this specific location, I ordered chocolate cake, apple cheese cake and a (OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIE). So when my order came, I began eating my chocolate cake for a few minutes. Afterwards I took a bite of the Oatmeal raisin cookie and almost instantly I felt my mouth and throat start to feel really funny and then suddenly my throat started tightening and closing. I couldn’t speak and went right into panic mode along with my wife. We frantically started looking for my epipen. After calling 911, the paramedics and as well as the FDNY came to rapidly assist me with oxygen and medication. After taking me to the emergency room and getting urgent care because of the state of my condition (anaphylaxis shock). As I was being assisted my wife stepped out so that she could call Martha’s Bakery and they told her that there were pecans in the Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and was very rude about it even after my wife explained what happened to me. They put her on hold just to never come back to the phone. After calling back they stated that it was our fault for not asking because they never specified that they are a “Nut Free facility”. Though I never suggested they should be, my issue is,it was never specified on your website. According to the Manager on staff, we were told that if we had come in, only then we would’ve been told there were nuts in the cookies. Which is completely ridiculous with how big of an allergen, nuts are. Furthermore, I had to spend all day into the night in the hospital which they honestly did not want to release me due to my heart rate and my breathing being erratic. I had to get different treatments for the allergic reactions, to steady my heart rate and breathing. This experience has left me scared for life simply due to a careless mistake that your business made. The location failing to take accountability has made this situation even worse. It’s very disappointing knowing that this company failed to simply list a life threatening allergen. I’m very disappointed and hurt because of the countless number of ways this situation could have went. I am genuinely not sure if I should I take legal actions about this matter. Especially since after my wife spoke with this location, and no one wanted to acknowledge the mistake that had been made but yet it just so happen that they went ahead to update the online account later on that night stating that there are nuts in the cookies after telling us that they didn’t have to. I did in fact take pictures of the original description while I was in the hospital. Regardless of how I follow through legally, I truly hope your companies can learn from this because this could’ve been...

The staff behind the counters are rude, disrespectful and lack proper training. The French Workshop is better! Even Carvel’s service was better. No one liked the cake that I bought… but I did BTW. I came in to buy definitely three pies and was thinking about a 4th. There were no customers for the counters when I walked in, and eventually two customers with small simple orders or questions for the whole duration. I asked the young Spanish boy for a cheesecake… after saying he didn’t have this particular cheesecake I initially requested and I asked for a regular one. He concurred… Then proceeded to help these eventually 2 other customers and refused to help me. When the young female came back with my pre-ordered cake, she began to help me with a second pie.. a chocolate cake. This is when I found out that the young Spanish boy wouldn’t even answer my question about other cheesecake pies, because he didn’t even bother to look. I said, “Pardon me, Sir. Did you see the cheesecake pies yet?” He ignored me twice proceeding to help to other customers as they walked in the door immediately for their small orders or questions. He eventually said that, since I am receiving my pre-ordered pie from the back with someone else he’s not going to help me at all. I spoke up and announced that I am buying at least three pies and I was only trying to let the shop hold onto them so they would be fresh… I only had 8 minutes to get them. He said, regardless of the size of my order I only have one person to assist me. I said, I believe the owner would disagree with this practice especially in this situation of me being the only customer at this moment. This was when the young female, whom was helping me started speaking loudly with an attitude saying that the owner wants no other person to help with large orders, regardless. I didn’t like her tone, and I already didn’t like the disrespect I received from the young boy. I didn’t feel comfortable with her handling anything myself, friends & family were about to consume. I canceled the chocolate pie that she was about to prepare for me. She told me she was going to give me a free candle for my son’s one year old birthday, but neglected to put it with my pre-ordered pie. I will never shop here again… I usually grab a whole cake on my way out of this area for all sorts of occasions. When my friends & family members come to visit me they will not shop here either. Yep. Their counter people still aren’t very attentive & helpful. I was going to give them another chance today. I definitely need to find their direct competitor close...

I don't need to say so much about how wonderful their cake selections are, you know that already by the other reviewers on here. What I will say is in the early years of having deserts at this Bell Blvd location. The cake slices and portions used to be slightly bigger, nowadays they have been downsized. I gave the service 3 stars because I continue to go to this bakery to the present, and a few of the waiters continue to be inattentive to coffee refills having the customer to find the actual waiter that served you, but I do understand the place gets crowded on line for their desert take outs.

Today I had a chocolate mousse slice of cake two small scoops of icecream and two smaller shots of whip cream, throw in the two cups of coffee and you have $17 dollars and change as a bill. UPDATE 🖐️😲I WAS JUST THERE YESTERDAY AGAIN AND THE 17 DOLLAR BILL FROM BEFORE IS NOW $19 DOLLARS👊 I won't cry about 2 bucks more but all the early hype is starting to deflate in me about that place. Still the same downsized cake slices for NOW 9 bucks, one scoop of ice cream, whip cream and 2 cups of coffee? "WHERES THE BEEF?"

The ambiance is pleasant but you are right up against your neighbors in the shop. Men's and ladies bathroom are 2 separated rooms with only one tolid for each, doors can be locked from inside.

Parking both front and side streets are FREE after 7pm. Before 7pm metered 2 hour parking for $5.00 bucks (Ridiculous). Before 7pm drive to deeper side streets for FREE PARKING ALL DAY. One could also take mass transit Q30 bus up Bell Blvd or the LONG ISLAND RAILROAD Bell Blvd stop. 😄👍, both steps from Establishment.

All in all, a nice cafe if just to stop in for cake and coffee or Icecream, good for take outs also.

I am delighted to convey my heartfelt appreciation, representing the Center for the Women of New York (CWNY), to Martha's Country Bakery for their extraordinary generosity during our recent "Taste Around The World Fort Totten" fundraiser. Martha's Country Bakery played a pivotal role in making this event an exceptional success. As an organization that relies on the support of local businesses, we are immensely grateful for Martha's Country Bakery's remarkable contribution. They provided a delightful array of delectable treats, including cannolis, chocolate éclairs, rainbow cookies, and fruit tarts, which were nothing short of exquisite. Martha's Country Bakery's commitment to our community was evident through their generous donation, and it truly touched our hearts. Their willingness to contribute to our fundraiser reflects their genuine care for the well-being of the community they serve. The pastries they provided were an absolute sensation at our event. The cannolis were rich and creamy, the chocolate éclairs were heavenly, the rainbow cookies were a burst of vibrant flavors, and the fruit tarts were a delightful fusion of sweetness and freshness. It was evident that these treats were crafted with precision and a passion for quality. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Martha's Country Bakery not only for their exquisite pastries but also for their admirable commitment to the community. Martha's Country Bakery, your contribution made our fundraiser a resounding success, and we are profoundly grateful for your support. The pastries were truly to die for, and we look forward to continuing to patronize your bakery as a token of our appreciation for your caring spirit. Thank you, Martha's Country Bakery!

I rate this place 4 out of 5 stars because the desserts are really hit or miss. I would say most desserts are above average, some are out of this world, and the rest are not very good at all. I have been here a few times and this is my first review of the place. Let me start by saying there are a lot of tables inside and it gets very crowded after dinner time. There are not many sit-in dessert places on bell blvd so many people come here. You may be inches away from the next table but the seating is comfortable and turnover is quick. This particular time that I went, I ordered a slice of berry pie with ice cream and a slice of triple chocolate mousse cake. The berry pie had a crumb top which was nice and toasty. The berries gave the pie a nice tart flavor while the crumb topping added a nice textural component. The flavors of the pie complemented the scoop of vanilla ice cream. The mix of warm and cold and tart and sweet is just amazing. The triple chocolate mousse is made of a layer of white chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate mousse sandwiched in between layers of dark chocolate cake. I typically do not enjoy desserts that are overly chocolately but somehow this cake breaks that rule. All 3 chocolate mousse layers as well as the cake are rich in chocolate flavor without being achingly sweet. I don’t think I could have finished the piece in one sitting but the few bites I had were heavenly.
