This ice cream spot appears to be a HIT here in Harlem considering the amount of people pouring in to get ice cream on a Monday. It's a perfect day for some since it's hot and humid out. I made it in just before the rush, was able to explore the various, unique ice cream choices (which all sounds so tasty by the way) and grab an empty table. The inside is a decent size with a few tables but they also have several tables outside. When you walk inside it is bright, homey and has beautiful murals on the walls. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. One of the staff members informed me of his favorite mix which pairs very well together and he sounded so convincing. The mix was "Chairperson Of The Board" and "Hello, New World." Once I sat down and tried both I was simply in Heaven. What an incredible, delectable mix! "Chairperson Of The Board" is a customer favorite! It's their signature cream cheese-based ice cream that has layers of graham crackers and blueberry jam. It’s like a frozen blueberry cheesecake. YUM! "Hello, New World" is their latest flavor that was created in celebration of their fifth year in business. It's vanilla wafers, Oreo cookies, and caramel swirls. You get a salty sweet bite in every spoonful. I'm so looking forward to coming back and trying...
Read moreI love ice-cream. Well, in Europe I love ice-cream. In the US it’s more complicated… because I like simple flavors like pistachio or hazelnut and American ice-cream usually are more complex with lots of ingredients in the same ice-cream flavor. Therefore, when we arrived to Sugar Hill Creamery, I thought I wouldn’t be able to pick anything. But at the end I settled for Harlem sweeties (salted caramel, brownie and butterschotch morsels) and Your neck of the woods (cookies and cream, sweet potato and pecan graham crust). And I was really surprised because all these indredients match very well and the result definitelyis pleasing. The structure of the ice-cream was good, the ice-cream didn’t melt immediately and there were no ice chunks, which often happen when an ice-cream contain solid parts like cookies or cake. There’s some contruction work on the building of the Harlem venue but that’s nobody’s fault and, despite that, the venue is still nice to chill in. It even has a corner for kids to play. The only negative point probably is the price. $5 for 1 small scoop or $7.25 for 2 is pretty expensive.

Read moreThe ice cream has plastic in it and the workers don’t care. This was my first time buying ice cream from Sugar Hill Creamery and it will be my last. I got a cup of ice cream at Sugar Hill, and in my last bite I felt something hard and slightly sharp in my mouth. I spit it out and saw it was a cut piece of hard plastic. I immediately brought it to the employees behind the counter and they just looked at me. They held it in their hand to confirm it was plastic. One of them said sorry but they did nothing else! They didn’t take the tub of ice cream out from the serving area for other customers, and they didn’t offer me a refund at all. I was shocked they did not remove the tub. I was also shocked that they did nothing to redeem the fact that they served me plastic in my ice cream! I hope I didn’t eat other plastic in the serving- really concerned about that. I am absolutely frustrated and angry at the way the employees handled the situation. The flavor I ordered was “First Day Out” FYI, but I wouldn’t trust any ice cream from...
