🍕+ Harlem’s Free Shakespeare in the Park

I saw Memnon last night. It was free, packed, on time, organized, and audiovisual treat. I responded yo the subway ad. So great job on the marketing! It wouldn’t have been on my radar otherwise. I purchased the ticket off of Eventbrite. It was easy breezy. Eric Berryman was very entertaining to watch and so was the whole cast. The crowd was cooperative and friendly. The night market was convenient on the way to the bathrooms. The M7 bus stop is right outside, for folks not from the neighborhood. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I watched my first play here recently - King Memnon hosted by the Classical Theatre of Harlem. It’s a gorgeous venue for a summer play but I would recommend bringing a hand fan as it can get hot in the crowd. Beautiful performance and it was cool to learn about the influence of Africa on Greek mythology (through a Shakespearean play!). As an East African (Eritrean), I was fascinated by the cross cultural influence and deeply appreciative of the opportunity to learn through free public programming in my neighborhood🌟

I was at this amphitheater in Marcus Garvey park and this was my third time coming there to see a performance and what a treat. I truly recommend it it is easy to get there from the Subway and the bus is a short walk from 125th street and Lenux Avenue. This performance was through the Classical Theater of Harlem. A Midsummer's Night Dream. What an amazing performance. Truly talented cast members. The staging was great the singing amazing costumes absolutely lovely. I might just go back again before it leaves I'm not sure how long it will be there but if you can please go see it go out and support you will not be...
