Sugar Miss tea&coffee — Restaurant in New York

Atmosphere, visuals, comfort, service and variety give this place a 5-star rating. This is a pretty newly opened place, but the quality of its desserts and drinks rank quite high on my list.

I recommend the following: Peach Oolong Tea Mille Crepes Cake Raspberry with Rose Lichi (Lychee) Mousse Peach Oolong Mousse (basically the Raspberry with Rose Lichi Mousse, just peach oolong flavored, but I prefer the raspberry one more) Peach Oolong Milk Tea (really loved this since it’s pretty light and not that sweet, not to mention the boba texture is AMAZING - I hope they don’t change the way they make it) Brown Sugar Boba Milk (tasted okay although I would have preferred if there was a little less milk in it, but that’s just a preference issue) Peach Oolong Tea with Cheese Foam (I don’t really like anything with cheese foam, but this was light and just tasted like good tea!) Fresh Orange Tea with Passion Fruit (tastes more like orange juice, but still good) Cream Milk Tea Blueberry Pea Flower Crepes Cake (new addition to the menu that I think helps to balance our the sweetness of the other items and has a bit of a sea salt taste to it)

There was another fruit tea that my friend ordered that tasted pretty good, but I can’t recall the name (I believe it was a grapefruit one).

I did not like the Strawberry with Purée Milk (tasted kind of weird and I’m not a fan of strawberry flavored items) and the Taro Ball with Herbal Jelly Snow Ice (non-milk tea version) since it had an unpleasant taste. My friends enjoyed the Taro Ball with Herbal Jelly Snow Ice so it could just be my taste buds that couldn’t handle the taste of it. The Mango & Passion Fruit Mille Crepes Cake is also not something I would recommend as it tasted like an odd combination.

The Special Mango Juice Sago & Pomelo Molten Cake was okay and worth a try.

*Just another note, but their bubbles/boba are honestly great. Not too soft/gooey and not too hard, but perfectly in the middle where it’s chewy and easy to swallow. It’s hard to find ones that are like this so I can’t help but mention.

The overall environment of the cafe was to my liking as it’s visually appealing and the chairs were comfortable as well. It’s a good place for catching up with your buddies and just having some nice desserts or drinks. The staff are also very kind and polite so that’s another plus! I’ve never really liked overtly popular places so this was a good find.

Came back again in mid-2021 and noticed they added the Butterfly Pea Flower Crepes Cake as well as more salty...

This is the second time me and my friend coming to this place, and I must say, we fell in love with the service and the food. It was affordable and good. But today was the worst service that I've seen, and I'll never bring my friends and family here anymore.

(I don't know why but there were many seats, but the server just have to bring us near a table full of kids. That was already a bad start.)

I ordered a iced latte (phoenix something?) while my friend ordered a milk tea. The latte, doesn't even taste like an official latte. It was pure milk and sugar to the point that I cannot even swallow it, not even an ounce of coffee. My friend (who speaks fluent mandarin) asked one of the server to see if they can return/change the drink for the same price, the server was like no and doesn't offer any other solutions and leaves. I was stuck with a drink that I can't even drink, and my friend offered to switch drinks with me, so a plus to my friend.

Then came the check. I paid the amount as stated $54, and I tipped 2 dollars and left. The server realised that we tipped too low, and CHASED AFTER US and demanded that we need to tip the minimum price of $7 (15%). I was dumbfounded because we barely got any service. Besides bringing food and drinks, and getting us napkins, that's it. I mean, that's the job of the server at least, to bring us food, what else are we supposed to do? Get up and get the food ourselves? It's their job! If they have at least check up on us, and offered solutions to my dissatisfaction to the drink, I would have tipped $7 and felt obligated to do so. However, I didn't, but I still tipped $2. I figured that despite the lack of service, they deserve some tip. But instead I was CHASED and FORCED to tip right outside of the very restaurant because it was too low. As I even questioned the lady, "what kind of law required me to tip?" She didn't even give me an answer, and just stared at me like I'm supposed to just tip it. I have been in many restaurant, and they never ever force me to tip them. I tip people because I think they deserved it, NOT because it is required to so. It's optional to tip, not a requirement! What's more, once I was FORCED to give the tip, the lady just took my money and left. Not even a thank you or anything, or saying sorry. Just took my money and left. Unbelievable. overall: long wait, but food is not fulfilling as it looks on images and understaffed

Before you go here, please make sure you’re okay with a small portion (if you are a big eater) because it may look fulfilling in images but it was definitely disappointing after such a long wait. me and my friends waited about 10-15 minutes each for our plates to arrive and customer service was embarrassing. We had to ask for water three times when we originally said it when first ordering, it was remotely busy but your staff should be prepared for these days. The workers are very adamant about their tip so if you aren’t one to tip i’d suggest to not go here. Two of my friends whom paid by credit card were asked “are you going to pay tip now or when the rest of the table does.” in which they ended up giving them at the cashier(relevant info trust) we ended up waiting almost 20 mins for our check since they apparently don’t know how to create separate checks, which is odd but okay. Counting everything correctly, we left with no tip out of outrage of the wait. A lady chased after us saying we were 10 bucks behind and INSISTED that we give them their tip so as teenagers and not wanting to look like a dine dash situation we gave the rest of our money to her. While walking home we figured out we got robbed, we gave the right amount along with my friends total of 5 tip yet we were chased down to give more.
