Today my husband purchased a large stew chicken, spinach rice take out dinner from Topaze and he says the food was dished out by a male server. When it was brought home I was surprised at how weighty the container felt and I was even more shocked to find out that I only received 1 drum stick; a bony piece of chicken back and the drumette portion of the chicken wing with this order. The overwhelming majority of the container was crammed and filled with an abundance of sticky rice. For the amount of money paid I should have received a decent proportioned meal with significantly more pieces of chicken. I don't know if this was purposely done by the server or if this is the new norm but I am fed up with these Jamaican restaurants ripping me off by short changing me and loading up the container with rice and more rice that no one would ever request. This is happening much too frequently; has become widespread and needs to stop. Grant it I don't have to shop here and one might say go home and cook your own food but that is not really the point if you have made it your business to enter the food service industry foray and want to remain competitive. Since no one answers the phone at the number listed for this establishment I feel compelled to write this review in the hope that the Management may see it and do something to remedy the situation. Oh and before you say well you should have properly instructed the server not to "kill it with the rice" this should not be necessary. Both the Cashier station and the serving station have been strategically constructed in such a way that if you are height challenged you have to speak loud and extend yourself to see the Cashier in order to be make eye contact and ensure that your order is properly received. Come on did no one tell these folks that this is not the ideal way to build a counter? Sure you don't want air borne contaminants ruining the dishes but you definitely are guaranteeing that your customers don't get a chance to see the portions being served to them until it's too late when the containers are opened after they have exited the establishment. I don't think that I should have to challenge or compel anyone to open the containers to ensure that my take out was filled as ordered or be a slave master when ordering because we all make mistakes but one has to call people out when you notice a pattern of bad service and...
Read moreThis establishment is horrible at customer service. I called around 1030 PM inquiring around what time the restaurant will close. A young lady answered and informed me that the restaurant will be open and there will be no set time at which they will close. With this information I arrived at 1115pm and to my dismay, the door was closed. As I knocked on the door, a very rude and uncooperative man ignored my request for answers. As I walked to my car and called the phone, the same lady answered and responded, that 'there is no set time at which the restaurant will close and they close when they felt like'. As I explained that I called at 1030pm to inquiry when the restaurant will close, I stayed to the lady that the proper answer that should've given to me is that 'there's no set time when the restaurant will close, however you can take a chance and come, we may or may not be open'. However, the lady didn't want to hear my argument and refused to offer an apology. This is a very ghetto and unprofessional establishment which was on full display tonight based on how they treated me, a loyal customer I might add, and I didn't expect nor deserved...
Read moreI placed an order today via DoorDash. On the menu, it stated that Mondays they serve chicken soup so I placed my order and when I received it to my surprise, it was two beef soup. I do not eat beef so I called the restaurant to inform them and asked if I can bring back the soup to get something else. The lady that answered the phone was extremely rude and unapologetic. She stated that them serving chicken soup on Monday is not true and there is no menu that says that. I asked her to double check with their DoorDash menu because it indeed does say that . She then yells there is no manager here and starts speaking patois to someone saying that I was asking for a refund which I never did. I asked for compensation to give them back the soup and take something else instead for the same price. She then told me they do not do compensation and she does not know what to tell me because there’s nothing that they can do. The fact that there was no accountability and no apology is what aggravated me. And the fact that she had nerve to be rude about something they did wrong on their end is what was mind-boggling to me. It’s safe to say I will never go...
