UMI Sushi & Seafood Buffet. 220-18 Hillside Ave, Queens Village, NY 11427 (718)478-2100
HORRIBLE FOOD
Lunch $17 Dinner $30
Dinner served all day on weekends.
Don't waste your money coming here. The bathroom was a disaster. Yes I know the customers made the mess but they should have a staff checking to clean up. Weird thing is 2 toilets ONLY one sink.
NO PARKING AT ALL AT RESTAURANT. Hubby had to park the car at the shopping plaza across the street. Tow possibly?
This restaurant came up on my TikTok so only 17mins away. Told hubby we are going. I went on yelp and saw all the pics of the amazing food. Was thinking DJ's International Buffet you have been replaced.
The staff were pleasant and nice. Not on point with clearing up the dirty plates.
I did eat A LOT of different dishes there. I had about 10 plates of a little of everything.
What a complete disappointment 99% of the food wasn't good. Now dinner was only $5 cheaper than DJ's International Buffet BUT the food pics shown on yelp were amazing. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.
I had about 8-10 plates of a little of every. And yes went back for I was going to get my moneys worth at this time for I wasn't coming back.
Soy sauce was VERY salty. Basically everything tasted the same. Overcooked, dry, (tiny tiny chopped lobster and crab legs very soft shell and meat very mushy also salty. No texture in the seafood meat. It was soft like a pound cake), raw bar oyster and clams questionable, wasabi not spicy, ALL the hot chile weren't spicy. Sorry but this was a complete disaster.
We tipped 18% for the staff shouldn't be blamed for the bad food.
Btw when at the counter there were 2 menus stock on the counter. I asked "Is this a separate menu?" She says no. This food here is at the buffet. Again WRONG. False advertisement.
The huge whole lobster cut in half, blue crabs, EXTREMELY large prawns, whole blue crabs and more dishes that were shown on yelp weren't served there. AGAIN false advertisement. Again DO NOT WASTE your money coming here. You will regret it. I sure did.
Sushi wasn't made it was like fried white rice they used to make it. Definitely fried rice recycled. Sashimi was over cut and sliced wrong making it hard and chewy.
At DJ's Buffet there's actually a chef behind the counter making the sushi in front of you.
Button line is their food is tasteless, soy sauce overly salty, dry overcooked dishes, mushy lobster and crab legs, sushi and sashimi was disgraceful. Everything was cooked just like someone just didn't know what they were doing.
Nice and pleasant staff but I would spend more to actually enjoy my food. Cheaper sometimes doesn't mean good. Back to DJ's International Buffet for EVERYTHING was amazing.
Basically driving a few more minutes to get amazing food from DJ's International Buffet. Spend $36 for dinner on dinner especially on the weekends for there's more options.
I love food so not going to waste time and money on rubbish just to save $5.
Yes I had a lot of dishes for I sure wasn’t going to go home hungry or go to another restaurant. I definitely was going to make sure got every...
Read moreI came here to celebrate my mothers birthday with my sister and I cannot recommend coming here. We came at around 3 PM on a Friday so I expected it to be very lively and for the food to be fresh and I was disappointed. When we got there, it was dead silent, and I asked for a little bit of music to which they let play for about two minutes then turn back off. I didn’t mind that so I just decided to focus on the food. Unfortunately, the food was no better. The inside was decorated nicely, however, I was served with a dirty cup that I had to send back as soon as I arrived. That should have been the first red flag, but all of the workers seemed exhausted so I gave them a break. The buffet area is extremely small compared to amount of seatings available. The variety of food listed on the website did not seem to be available at the time we went. Most of the food was very, very dried out and seemingly old. It was obvious that the food had been sitting there since opened or even the night before. We were most excited to try the sushi, being sushi is in the name of the restaurant, but sadly, it tasted very old. It was dried out and it was another thing that seemed to be sitting there for hours. After the first round of going through the buffet, you’re literally picking up the same exact food because of how small the buffet area was. They don’t really refresh the food either like other buffets, there were many times that we would experience empty sections of the buffet because the food wasn’t refilled. There was no meat on the crab legs, ribs, and the salmon were so dried out. The only thing I can say is how cheap the food was because it was $100 for three people. They will be sure to check the tip right in front of you before they leave the table. Since this is a incredibly viral restaurant, I’m going to give the Bronx location a try because i have friends that say the Bronx location is 1000x better. So if you absolutely must go to a buffet, I guess you should try a different location because this place was absolutely NOT IT. P.S: All three of us kept running to the bathroom all day after we left the place, so do with that information...
Read moreBeware if it wasn’t for the out of town people I was with - they were there for the crab legs and seafood. I would have left and got McDonald’s. It’s not what I expected for 29.99. It should be more like 16.99 yes they have a large low quality farm raised seafood selection. However the lobster was disgusting claws were very hard to open and when I did get it open the quality of the lobster was chewy salty and gave old lobster. General Tso gave old chicken and broccoli gave old better off ordering from local Chinese spot. Lamb was cold, lomein cold fried shrimp undercooked, I could taste the mushy batter after biting into it but the clams and fried rice were good. The fried chicken wing drums (no flats)were so small and fried hard hard hard. I will say this I’m attaching a video of what I saw and I find it disturbing and can only imagine what goes on behind the doors of that kitchen with the handling of the food. How they have uncooked food out like that no cover no temperature control nothing. Workers walking past the uncooked trays of food. And it was there out the whole two hours my family and I were there. The white tray has uncooked fish in it. If I’m not mistaken shouldn’t this uncooked food be in a fridge. It’s right at the entrance of the kitchen. Workers briskly walking back and fourth in and out the kitchen like it’s no one’s business. It’s a risk i took I had to pray about not getting sick. If you want unlimited crab and farm raised seafood: shrimp fried frog legs legs, go ahead but it’s a chance you will take. Other than that I would order food from my local Chinese. Honestly don’t risk your health they are going to make someone real sick if...
