I've ordered from this restaurant twice, and it has failed to impress me both times. The food was alright, but I don't believe it's worth the price, with how expensive it is, so I doubt I'll be trying the restaurant a third time. Here's a breakdown of everything I've ordered from here, some items are no longer available on their menu, which seems to change around a lot.
Most recent order: Ice Cold House Tea (Passion Fruit): 3.5/5, it was not cold when it arrived at my house, more like room temperature. It's served in a plastic bottle, to my surprise, and it was fine, although I didn't taste much of the fruit flavor. The notes were very subtle, and it was similar to a slightly fruity tea. It wasn't too sweet, which I liked.
Glazed Nuggets (Fire Popper Sauce): 3.5/5, not spicy at all. Very average in terms of flavor and texture. I prefer Korean Fried Chicken over this, for sure.
Signature Chicken Sandwich (Super Spicy): 1/5, one of the weirdest sandwiches I've ever tasted in my life. It was both sickeningly sweet, akin to cereal cornflakes, and bitterly spicy-ish, at the same time. My tongue was very confused. Mind you, it only tasted sweet on some parts of the sandwich, and spicy on the other parts, like a dotted chocolate chip cookie, or a field of landmines. You never know what the next bite will taste like until you start chewing it. I'm a big fan of spicy food, so their Super Spicy wasn't spicy to me in the sense I was dying from the heat, but it was enough of a small tingle on my taste buds to let me know that it was indeed having an effect, and fulfilling its promise that it would be spicy. I've had too many disappointing experiences where food claimed to be spicy, and then felt absolutely nothing while eating it.
Crispy Nuggets: 2/5, it was very hard and the chicken didn't seem like good quality chicken. The experience was like gnawing through hard bits of leather. Dry and flavorless.
Beef Empanadas: 3.5/5, juicy and moist, but lacking in depth of flavor. Very few empanadas for the amount of money paid. They're also rather small, with not much filling inside.
Homemade Pastrami Sandwich: 2.5/5, the pastrami was bland and flavorless. The coleslaw was similarly bland. Just a bland sandwich overall.
Previously ordered: Savory Fries Platter: 4.5/5, my favorite item from them, it's not on the menu anymore. Lots of meat, guacamole, sauce, and fries. It's a full meal in itself.
Famous Corn Soup: 3/5, very sweet, which I never experienced in a corn soup before. Is corn soup supposed to be so sweet? It had some bacon and guacamole to offset it, but not enough. Very weird combination of flavors.
Facon Burger: 2.5/5, very disappointed in this burger. For a restaurant to be a burger specialty joint, I expected to have my socks knocked off by this. Just like its name, the burger is upside down, with the toppings on the bottom of the meat patty, instead of above it, like you'd normally expect burgers to be constructed. It was very odd, since the toppings were drowned out by the mediocre meat squashing it down. Perhaps I was supposed to turn the burger to eat it? The toppings also fell out everywhere while I was eating, so that didn't help my enjoyment of it. The meat was not juicy enough, bland, and very thick. I didn't enjoy it. It was a substandard burger. The only good part was the facon jam, and there was not much of it.
Fire Poppers: 3.5/5, I believe this is the same menu item as the Glazed Chicken Nuggets, but with smaller pieces of chicken. Taste is the same, since the same sauce was used.
Many of the items are unflavorful and disappointing. Every item costs over 15 dollars or so, with some entrees costing over 20 dollars. It's just very expensive for the quality of the food, which isn't up to par. If it actually tasted good, I might be willing to pay what they're asking, but from my experience, I would say that's a no currently. Perhaps it tastes better when you dine in, but this is my opinion of their...
Read moreYas! Yas! Yas! Finally a kosher restaurant in the heart of boro park that combines fast and gourmet food to bring you a palate tasting of the Gods.
My family took a chance of trying this new restaurant last night even though they don't take reservations. We prayed and hoped we'd have a table the moment we walked in. The Gods said so be it. The moment we walked in there was an empty 4 seat table and we grabbed it. Not even minutes after we were the restaurant became completely full with a wait list for tables.
As we scan the menu we notice the names of all the food had some sort of UP in it. Cute twist to casual. I also appreciate that the menu is short and to the point. No room for errors. Our waitress came over and asked if we'd like to start with drinks as we were still waiting for the 4th. (I also give them props for allowing us to sit even though our full party wasn't there yet). We ordered beers and the red sangria. The sangria was super refreshing, wasn't too strong with winter fruit tastes.
Finally the fourth showed up and we put our order in. Crispy Chicken, Noodles, Fried Chicken Sandwich, Classic Burger (medium), Truffle Fries, Pulled Beef Sandwich, Burger Salad, Tacos. Every single thing we ordered was fresh, tasty and I love that they don't give massive portions. It's the perfect size for a good meal. All of the above has been tasted and recommended if you're headed there.
Can't skip dessert though, can we? We ordered the Molten Chocolate Cake & The French Beignets. The Beignets on it's own, although very fresh, didn't have much of a taste but they serve it with 3 great dipping sauces. The chocolate cake was served warm and oozing with delicious chocolate. Honestly, I almost forgot it wasn't dairy.
The experience is a 5 star experience. My only hold up is, 1) we had to ask for water to be brought to the table. We drink a lot of water. If we have to keep asking for more water it gets annoying. Most restaurants whether casual or upscale will put a pitcher of water on your table. 2) Reservations. At least until the hype is over. I would not have wanted to be one of the people waiting over 30 min for a table.
All in all this is a wonderful new addition to the Kosher world and can't wait to see what they have in...
Read moreHad the schnitzel sandwich the bread was amazingly fresh and kinda spongey (in a good way) the chicken was amazing tasted fresh juicy and delicious the crispy coating was nice (10/10 for the chicken)
Wish it had more chicken in it was too little but it was tasty enough that I'm not complaining
The house pickles are too sweet in my opinion not what I like in a good pickle (They do advertise it as sweet though so not their fault)
They forgot to add fried onions (which i chose on uber) but ig it's extremely busy now before passover so mistakes happen would have to see if it happens on a regular weekday
The mushrooms i added were nah... idk if its canned mushrooms or something else but it wasn't anything crazy wish it was fresh big slices of portobella for that additional price of $3.99 (on uber eats)
Overall I would rate the complete sandwich 7.7/10 would definitely order it again
The pure fruit pops are amazing I never saw any other restaurants in the area have such an option It's literally just pure fruit like if you took mango and pineapple added it into a blender and froze it afterwards mad respect for offering that
Spent like 25 on those 2 items (i got a 2nd fruit pop for free!) plus a diet dr pepper (and 5 bucks for a tip) yes it's a little bit expensive expensive but that's inflation
[Wish the uber delivery was better because this particular restaurant uses their own couriers or something so I couldn't know when exactly the order will arrive and wait outside my building (multiple entrances and at night so hard for the couriers to find me) ]
Overall delicious food 7.7/10 would...
