Upside Pizza: A Slice of Familiarity

There’s something about the way the city moves — fast, sometimes chaotic, but always predictable in its rhythm. Upside Pizza fits right into that flow. It’s not the sort of place that demands attention, but somehow, it becomes part of your routine, quietly lingering in the background of your day.

The pizza itself is straightforward, as if it knows exactly what it needs to be. Thin crust, crisp edges, and a generous yet unpretentious layer of cheese. Nothing more, nothing less. A reliable choice for when you’re hungry, but not in the mood to make a decision. As one person put it, “It’s always just right, the way pizza is supposed to be.”

The drinks are in the fridge, waiting for you, cold and uncomplicated — Coke, Sprite, and a few cans of pink lemonade. It’s the sort of selection that fits without demanding much thought. You grab one without pause, as if it were always meant to be there, a simple, familiar accompaniment to your meal.

The pizza arrives fast, almost too fast. It’s often too hot to eat at first, but you don’t mind the wait. There’s something oddly satisfying about letting it cool, the anticipation growing with each passing minute. One regular customer remarked, “I don’t know why, but it’s never the same when it’s lukewarm. There’s something about the heat — it just feels right when it’s fresh out of the oven.” It’s true. There’s an unspoken understanding between you and the pizza. You wait a little, it’s worth it.

It’s one of those places you don’t have to think about. You walk in, order, sit, and let time pass a little. The city outside hums, but inside, it’s calm, almost nostalgic. A place you can count on, not because it’s extraordinary, but because it just
is. And in a city like this, sometimes...

the pizzeria’s interior is quite small. a small variety of pies are on on display. two-man operation: one at the oven and one at the cashier.

got a plain slice from here. fairly saucy slice. crust was not too thin—equal balance of crunch and chew, actually. smooth mozzarella cheese blobs. all came together for a solid slice eating experience. however, this place did NOT have a menu posted when i ate there and it’s super-strange. from what i could tell people were being charge different amounts for the same kind of pizza. kinda weird. i could be wrong but when a place doesn’t post prices—it leads to these kind of shenanigans or the perception of said shenanigans. the slice was like $4...

Called because tracking link said pizza hadn't left the store over 20 minutes after promised delivery time. Person I spoke to (claimed to be manager) was totally unhelpful and said I was just trying to get a free pizza when I objected to having to wait 90+ minutes. He said it was on the way and would be delivered in 5 minutes so I called back when it hadn't after 10 at which point he said he had canceled the order (without telling me). I never received any kind of confirmation that order had been canceled and had to file a credit card chargeback to get refunded for food I...

Pizza for delivery arrived burnt to a crisp. If you happen to get a good pie, it may be good. But it is not worth the risk of receiving something with crust so burnt it looks like petrified wood. This was too burnt to offer to my family. I tried to call the restaurant to ask if there was anything they could do, but it seems like they took their phone off the hook. Probably to mute the sound of unending calls letting them know how badly they’ve let their customers down. Deeply unserious behavior from a business.
