So today is actually not my first time coming to Yaad Man Thing. I came last month but it was super crowded and took at least 30 mins to get my food. I came today on my lunch break. The lady who took my order was nice. The two people, man and women who put my order together were nice, especially the man. I ordered jerk pork, jerk chicken, curried goat meal, festival, baked Mac and cheese and a Ginger Beer soda. Jerk chicken 5/5. It taste so good. Cooked to perfection and seasoned well. The sauce complemented the meal well and it wasn’t doused in barbecue sauce like other Jamaican restaurants like to do. Jerk pork 10/5. If you want it; get this. It’s sooo good! It is cooked well and it’s not greasy or oily like other Jamaican restaurants. It’s grilled perfectly and it has the nice bit of kick to it. Curried goat 4.5/5. It’s good, I like it but a bit much bone in it and the pieces of goat are small. The gravy was good and I did get a nice serving! I would order it again. Festival 4/5. It’s good, but small. It was fresh and I did like the taste of it; but I’ve had better festival at Peppa’s. I would still order it again. Mac and cheese 4/5. It’s better than most Jamaican restaurants I’ve gone to and it’s seasoned, but I had the last slice and it was a bit “old”. I’d wait next time for a fresher batch. They usually have lo mein on weekends, so I’ll have to stop by for it. All in all, good service, nice people and delicious food. I did not have to wait either on this Tuesday, so give them a chance.

First Review 04/03/2024 Was recommended to try the food here, so I decided to get large Ribs only for $16, large Jerk Pork only $16, 3 festivals and a chicken soup. The Ribs flavor was good, however it was really dry. The jerk pork also was properly seasoned but was too dry. The dryness from the meat could be from being overcooked or possibly being left in the oven where it is being stored to keep it warm. I went a little before 2pm on a Wednesday with high expectations but the food did not match this expectation. This is a second review. 06/06/2024 The jerk chicken was great, it was cooked properly and it was tasty and juicy. I would highly recommend it. The jerk pork was also great, it had the same amazing flavor and it was moist and tender. I also would highly recommend this. The Ribs was also great, could be a little more juicy, with a lower heat, or taken off slightly sooner, but I truely enjoyed and would also recommend it. Big up the jerk man who was friendly and multi tasking to help out when a crowd built up in the shop, and to Nelson the owner who reached out to me on my first review to make things right.

When I arrived at the restaurant, there was a long line, but the friendly staff made the wait pleasant, and they served everyone in a timely manner. As I got closer, the enticing aroma from the jerk pan filled the air, making my mouth water. I ordered a jerk chicken meal with festivals as the side and also got jerk pork with rice and peas. The food did not disappoint the meat was seasoned to perfection, right down to the bone. This is hands down the best jerk chicken and pork I've had in New York. The rice and peas were also well-seasoned, and I cleaned my plate completely. The price was quite reasonable too; both plates came to around $25. The portions were generous, so I felt like I got good value for my money. While there isn't a dine-in area it's more of a grab-and-go spot the food is worth every penny. The only downside was the wait, but it was totally worth it. I highly recommend this place 10/10. It was my first time here, and I will definitely be coming back!

Everytime I go here I have a great experience. The jerk pork is great and authentic to how I’m used to it from the Jamaica itself. At least the most authentic I’ve experience in this country. I never go when it’s crowded, that’s common sense. I usually go on a Sunday, Jamaicans cook on a Sunday and never hardly eat out on a Sunday so it’s less crowded. Also, they only serve breakfast in the morning, so if you order something before noon that’s not on the breakfast menu, it’s not going to come or it’ll get to you after lunchtime— this is for the app people. Also, they’re so slammed during the early afternoon and dinner time, on the weekdays and Saturdays, it doesn’t even make sense to try to order anything and NOT expect a hassle. Please stop talking about Mac n cheese, why are talks ver ordering that ? Just order a small mac and cheese with jerk sauce on it. That’s how you eat it, that’s why it’s made bland in the first place. And that’s how we make our rice and peas. If this food is not for you please just order what you want and leave, but our food has been this way forever and it’s for us to enjoy here in our little cove. Be respectful and don’t overstep! This business is extremely unique and needs to be protected at all costs. Us Jamaicans don’t get our food true to recipe due to complaints like the ones in the comments. Too much pepper, too much this; not enough this… go somewhere else ! Leave this place alone, positive vibes only! Thanks ! I would’ve given them 10...

I have been a loyal customer of Yaad Man Things for quite some time, as the food has generally been consistently good and representative of authentic Jamaican flavors. However, my most recent experience was unfortunately very disappointing.

Yesterday, I ordered the oxtail with white rice, jerk chicken, and sweet chili wings. To start, the portion of oxtail was surprisingly small—approximately 5–6 pieces—even though I ordered a large serving. The white rice was hard and undercooked, the jerk chicken lacked seasoning and depth of flavor, and the sweet chili wings were bland and needed considerably more seasoning.

As someone of Jamaican heritage, it is particularly disheartening to visit a restaurant that represents my culture and find the quality falling short of expectations. My family and I have decided to take a long-overdue break from Yaad Man Things, as the food has not been up to its previous standards for some time now.

Paying nearly $50 for a meal that feels like a waste, especially after a long day of work, is extremely frustrating. I hope management will take this feedback constructively and make improvements so that the food can return to the level of quality that once made this...
