This hospital is horrible. I would not recommend especially if your pregnant or planning to have your baby here. My prenatal care doctor offered me 2 options for the hospital to deliver my baby. Downstate was one of the options. I chose this hospital because I heard that it was a good hospital but it is not. The labor & delivery staff is horrible. They are very rude. They are short of staff. The hospital lacks cleanliness. They don’t allow anybody to be with u not even the father of your child. They made my pregnancy experience very lonely. Any appointments I had there They said nobody can be there with me Not for my sonogram appointments Not for my NST appointments Not when I was admitted or anything. They didn’t even bring my partner in the room while I was in labor. He was left in the waiting area. I went through my pregnancy/ labor alone. I was in labor some of the staff was being very rude & impatient. They didn’t even know what they were talking about. The night I went into labor My water broke at home and I was having contractions. My contractions sped up so fast. Went from mild pain to excruciating pain within 2-3 hrs. My contractions were coming back to back but they were saying I was only 2-3cm dilated but my baby came & I told them I felt him coming but they didn’t believe me . I pushed him out without the help of any nurse or doctor. By the time the doctor came back in the room my son head was already out All she did was help me get the rest of the body out. The nurse that was in the room with me Watch me go through that pain She did nothing when I was telling her the head was out. She stared at me in disgust Didn’t even try to help me & was giving me attitude. I was telling them I need epidural and she said your not getting it with a nasty attitude & she forced the iv in my arm as I was having contractions. My arm has so many bruises. The night shift is absolutely horrible. They act like they don’t want to do there job. After pushing the baby out then they allowed my partner in the room He missed the whole experience. Then they wasn’t trying to allow him to stay the night there with me After labor they moved me to another room for the rest of my stay. They knew he was with me but yet moved me to another room with other women then said he couldn’t be there because there were other women there as we were sleeping at 11:30pm at night. They don’t want u to have any support they want u there alone. I feel absolutely violated. I didn’t deserve to be treated the way they treated me. They made me very uncomfortable every time...

My Grandmother is on a very serious floor the 6th floor. This floor have people with damage kidneys , cancer & more. My Grandmother ( And lot of other patients 2 ) can't walk or stand very well ( they have high risk of falling) so she had to use the bedpan & when she needs help she have to ring the bell. When you ring the bell for help the nurses take FOREVER to answer more than 5 minutes I know one time I counted it was 12 minutes. I understand their busy and have a lot of patients to take care of but majority of the time the nurses be talking and laughing with each other in the hallway. Yesterday afternoon August 31,2016 My grandmother needed to use the bedpan ( the bathroom) she rung the bell and asked my mother to pass her the bedpan so when the nurse come she could have everything ready. No nurse came so my mother stood in the hallway to stop the nurse . So the nurse put my grandmother on the bedpan and left so my grandmother could use the bathroom. When she was done my grandmother needed the nurse again so she rung the bell nobody came. Me and my mother was waiting in the hallway to stop the nurse again nobody still didn't come. So my mother had to go to the nurse station the clerk told the nurse that 603 needed assistance. Couple minutes went past Nobody still didn't come so once again we went to the nurse station again. While me and my mother was standing by the nurse station ( you could see the room my grandmother was in ) we seen a nurse finally go in the room . Guess what the nurse did ? Went in the room cut off the call & left without asking my grandmother what she wanted. So again me & my mother went to the nurse station and told what had happened so the Clerk had to do the rest because she couldn't find the nurse. Then later last night my grandmother needed to use the bathroom she got pre pared again my mother got the bedpan out so when the nurse come my grandmother have everything ready. We waited so long my grandmother used the bathroom on herself. But the night ended well around 9:00 that night we had a good nurse I forgot his name but I know it start with a M. He answered quickly and did his job very well. I wish we had him all day because those day time workers don't be doing their...

I arrived by pararmedics about 1pm to the er. Abdominal pain n bloody urine from cystoscopy done 2 days prior @ Methodist...smdh. Anywho no ct scan for 5 hours then told i had been admitted 6hrs ago the time now is 11:19pm. Hmm anyone wanted to make me aware prior or notify my family..NO guess not. Too many foreigners..my family is from Jamaica West Indies but know how to articulate very well. Cultural differences here. Bajan nurse awesome clocked out. Haitian nurse limited english and bias. White European dr. Sorry i dont have his name.. Gave me my lab to transcribe and told me he doesnt know the level of my literacy!!! Um unemployed Veterinary Assistant/Technician due to health.. Former Secretary for the Haitian Club @ LaGuardia Community College and "I am AMERICAN". Former Verizon employee can locate anyone anywhere anytime. Not to mention i can break down your puter and rebuild it! Ez n smooth. 5 wonderful children n 3 beautiful grands. My frigging LITERACY LEVEL???!!! Dude.. Do NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS U R A CAKES N PIES INDIVIDUAL.. #loveyourselfenoughtoknow
