La Farandula — Restaurant in Newark

Last time ate here 13 years ago and did not come back because the food was very salty and did not taste authentically fresh. Showed up 13 years later to give it another try it was my girl’s birthday and I did not want to cook. No way am I ever coming back Nope! Dominican food in NYC tastes waaaay better! . Not here in Farandula. The food tastes worse. Tastes cheaply under seasoned and very salty. Is this the only ingredient they believe in to make food taste good? I’m a Spanish cook no way this food should taste like this I need to open up my own restaurant and take their customers. . I had rice pigeon peas and it had no taste except salt and tasted like they used canned pigeon peas. Not fresh pigeon peas which make the rice more flavorful. Chicken stew had no potatoes nor carrots. Chicken cooked with the skin on was disgusting as I was peeling this greasy soft skin out of my plate. It tastes like cooked chicken in its own fat. looked greasy with water and tomatoes sauce with green peppers and onion as if it was boiled into the greasy sauce. Yuk! Disappointed with the taste meh. White rice was undercooked and hard and when asked to add beans they drowned rice with all the sauce of from the beans.Again beans extremely salty. I asked them to make my plate over again and and they looked at me with an attitude as if I was crazy to have asked for a plate the way I wanted it. I took it that way as to not start an argument and warned the server to not make my second plate that way. Took the food home. I no longer had white rice and beans. It now was rice soup with beans. Meh! Totally disgusted the beans was blood pressure salty city. Please customers who suffer from high blood pressure do not eat here. I rather cook my own food home then come back to this. Never ever going to come back in this lifetime. ...

My Dad and I ordered at this place because my Dad said the food was good. Ordered some octopus salad, grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce and tomato, grilled chicken salad and some strawberry frozen drink. We waited about an hour maybe more but I guess the place was busy with pickup orders or whatever. We got our order and headed home, we got the food out of the bags only to find disappointment. The grilled chicken sandwich had tomato but no lettuce and there was some sauce and yellow cheese on it that I didn't ask for. Otcopus salad was too small for what they said was taking the longest to make. The grilled chicken "salad" was the worst thing I've ever seen. It wasn't a salad, it looked more like a grilled chicken caesar soup with the soup part being the Caesar dressing. It was drenched in it. The only thing that was good was the strawberry frozen drink....

I called this morning for a 2 trays of 30 beef empanadas to which I received attitude and complaints of “why didn’t you call the day before?!” After apologizing and making it clear I was unaware, I asked what they would be able to do. They agreed to 20 empanadas. A little over an hour later I attempted to pick up the order, which was not ready - last minute request on my part so I was fine waiting, but I am highly upset with having paid and receiving 20 cheese in place of beef along with the attitudes until the very end. If it was that much of a issue, I would have appreciated them not taking the order at all. Selling an incorrect order just to get a “message” across is terrible for business - not to mention absolutely childish. This was a first and last time I would buy here. Another location nearby was able to acomódate my request for 40...
