Unfortunately, the new owners failed to carry the service and quality of food from Doña Marta. They brought out bread for the table. We asked if it was courtesy and the waitress said it was from the house. I don't know if she didn't hear or misunderstood the question for we fought the charge with the owner. I also ordered a lemonade. It doesn't state it's frozen on the menu and it was extremely sour and priced at 5 dollars. When we spoke to the waitress about the lemonade, all she said was that it was organic. What does that have to do with it being frozen? We had ordered empanadas de platano. Two to dine in and two to go. We canceled the ones ordered to go since we didn't like the taste of the first two. The waitress came from the kitchen with the boxed items and said it was too late to cancel. I hadn't touched anything on the to go order since we barely had our drinks at our table. They ended up removing them from the bill. The food is really not good at all. We ordered pupusas and soft chicken tacos. The pupusas have a weird seasoning to them and the relish on the table it too spicy. The chicken tacos fell apart since they come in store bought tortillas. Unfortunately, this is our last time in here. Truly sad since I've been a customer for over...
Read moreNever going back! I’ve been to many Salvadorean Restaurants in El Salvador here in NJ, NY, and Maryland. I was excited to see what this place was about. Especially because social media made it look appealing. The waiters are very friendly and the atmosphere is very nice. The place is very well decorated with amazing art work. But the food needs a lot of work. Pupusas aren’t that meaty and cheesy. I don’t think they use authentic quesillo. They are pretty flat. Also, we ordered chicharrones and yucca got only 4 chicharrones. The yuca was hard with no favor. When the manager asked how was the food we told him it about it and he replied well you can order more. After that we chose to keep our constructive criticism to our selves. Horchata takes tasted like water, sugar and dirt. My daughter didn’t even finish it. One spoonful of the rice was enough to say it wasn’t fresh. We also ordered churrasco which I don’t think it was and it tasted like they used the same oil from a fried fish. The breaded shrimp we ordered was actually pretty good. They also gave us lemons and not lime. Which is very disappointing considering the flavor difference. Last but not least it took forever for us to get our food when the restaurant had more waiters...
Read moreI stopped for dining to try some authentic Salvadoran food. The restaurant stands out with its colorful murals and Salvadoran sayings inside and outside, giving it a cultural and welcoming vibe.
Parking is a bit limited, but if you’re lucky you’ll find a spot. When I visited, the place was full always a good sign.
I tried four pupusas: cheese, loroco with cheese, chipilín with cheese, and jalapeño with cheese. The loroco pupusa was my favorite, the cheese was delicious, and the jalapeño had a mild spice that was enjoyable. The chipilín was new for me not my favorite flavor, but I appreciated trying something authentic.
The cashew (Marañón ) drink was refreshing and not too sweet, and I finished with a nice cup of coffee.
The atmosphere was a highlight: soft music in the background makes it perfect for conversation, and on Fridays after 7 PM, they host live shows that bring more energy to the space. Service was excellent the waitress was friendly, attentive, and patient while explaining dishes information of the restaurant.
Overall, a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking for authentic Salvadoran flavors in a cultural and family-friendly setting. I’ll definitely be back to try the...
