I just had one of the most disappointing and unprofessional experiences I've ever encountered at a restaurant. While seated at the bar, I observed a staff member in the back wipe her nose with the back of her hand and then immediately begin wrapping utensils, without washing her hands. Concerned, I brought this to the attention of the bartender, Mr. Kenneth. Rather than addressing the issue appropriately, he responded dismissively, saying, "No she didn’t. So what do you want me to do about it? Are you done? Would you like to go?" He then called the employee over and told her, in front of me, “This lady is accusing you of wiping your nose with the back of your hand.” She denied it, to which I calmly responded that I had seen it happen. Mr. Kenneth then called over the manager, Mr. Richard, who at least attempted to handle the situation professionally. However, as Mr. Richard went to the back to investigate, Mr. Kenneth turned to me and sarcastically asked, “Are you okay now? Hello? Anybody?” When I chose not to respond, he walked over to the employee and said, within earshot, “She wants free food.” I immediately corrected him, stating that I did not want anything for free, I simply expected basic hygiene and professionalism. To say I’m shocked would be an understatement. As someone who travels to New York regularly for work, I’ve never encountered such a lack of customer service and respect. And to think i was going to bring my clients here for dinner tonight. This experience was both disappointing and...
Read moreOne of the most inhospitable restaurants I’ve ever been to. I was staying at the Doubletree next door for a conference and needed some late night food, so I headed over here since Google told me it was open until 12. I arrived at 11:40 and was greeted by a blocked off door and a manager saying they were only accepting to go orders. This was fine with me as I intended to order food then go back to my room but I felt entirely unwelcome. I ordered from the happy hour menu but was charged regular pricing until I alerted the manager who went to the back to change it. I had to ask for the beer I ordered. It was handed to me at the door. I immediately spoke to the manager and told him I felt very unwelcome in his establishment despite the fact that they weren’t even closed yet. As a bartender, I understand wanting to leave at a reasonable hour, but have never locked customers out before closing time. Mike apologized and allowed me to sit at a table.
Update: I’ve updated this from 1 star to 4. The manager Mike explained that they had a crazy night due to a cancelled flight and dozens of patrons with vouchers. He offered me dinner and a drink on my next visit and I appreciate that he took the time to address and...
Read moreWe had terrible (maybe the worst of our lives) service- we felt like an inconvenience with whom the server was angry for being there. The exchanges were short, clipped and emotionless and the server was gone before we could ask a question, except one. We asked him how the steak was and he said quickly and under his breath "I don't eat here". (🚩) He handed us food and bills across another table and tried to have us tap to pay without showing us the total on the screen. He never mentioned the cash discount- we saw it on the receipt after paying. The steak was the lowest quality possible and it was so bad that my husband put ketchup on it to wash it down but we dared not say anything to the grumpy, angry, silent server. My salad was a huge amount of lettuce with some nice vegetables on it but very overpriced, especially with no protein on a dinner-sized salad. So was the steak. It was really not worth a visit. We should have ordered Uber Eats or taken an Uber to another restaurant. I believe that we should not have had to pay for our meal but we just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. Dining experience: 6PM...
