As an alum of the University of Delaware, UDairy Ice Cream holds a special place in my heart. There's something incredibly nostalgic about indulging in homemade ice cream, and UDairy delivers that blissful experience with every scoop. It's like a taste of yesteryear combined with a dash of quirky innovation.
One of the things that sets UDairy Ice Cream apart from the rest is their adventurous range of flavors. From classics to the truly unique, they never cease to amaze. Back during my undergrad days, flavors like 1923, Fluffernutter, and Blue Hen Tracks were my absolute favorites.
The rich and creamy 1923, with its velvety chocolate base, always managed to transport me to a simpler time. Fluffernutter, a whimsical blend of marshmallow and peanut butter, was like a childhood dream come true. And who could resist the delectable combination of peanut butter cups and fudge swirls in the irresistible Blue Hen Tracks?
Now, as an alum and a parent, it's a delight to bring my own kids to UDairy for an after-school treat. It's a way for me to share the same joy and love for homemade ice cream that I experienced during my time at the university. Watching their eyes light up as they try unique flavors and create new memories warms my heart.
The atmosphere at UDairy Ice Cream is equally inviting. The staff is friendly, always ready to offer suggestions and samples to help you explore the array of flavors. Whether you're a student, an alum, or simply someone in search of extraordinary ice cream, give UDairy a try. Trust me, your wallet and taste buds will thank you.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe All Nighter hits the spot! The whimsical menu can be overwhelming with 20+ flavors even Ube ice cream, it's so hard to choose! I couldn't land on 1 flavor so I got a double scoop of the popular All Nighter and Cookie Dough Dynamite.
The coffee-based All Nighter was the stand-out with cookie dough, chocolate sandwich cookies, and fudge. Bursting with flavor in every bit! The Cookie Dough Dynamite wasn't as memorable and a bit more bland, I would opt for more of the unique flavors. Hubby enjoyed Mint Chocolate Chip, wish he was a bit more adventurous!
The Peach Blueberry Cinnamon was fun to try, but really sweet. I'm going to stick with the more classic flavors.
The ice cream isn't too sweet and doesn't melt right away. I was able to impressively make it to the bottom of the cone without any ice cream dripping onto my hand. No mess! While the crispy waffle cone added a nice crunch, it was surprisingly sweeter than the ice cream and didn't have that savory sweet pairing with the ice cream that I was hoping for.
Avoid the long line outside by putting on a mask and ordering inside! While it's a bummer the restrooms aren't open to the public, the Porta Potty is surprisingly spacious and pretty clean.
Great pit stop off of I-95, only a mile off the interstate. Go glad we stopped here 1/2 way between my parents house in PA and Northern VA. Excited for the next trip up and to grab a scoop of the All Nighter or explore...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stopped here completely spur of the moment after driving back from Maryland, not knowing anything about it or what to expect. We went simply off of the Google rating how close off 95 it is. I'm so glad we went! The concept is amazing, having ice cream fresh from cows in the agricultural program, connecting people to what's going on at a university and with animals that are right within the community. But concept alone isn't enough to help a business thrive. The variety of flavors here is amazing!! About 2/3 of the options are completely out of the box, not your run of the mill. And it's important to note that each of the five flavors we tried are distinctly different. It doesn't taste at all like there's a base flavor with mix-in's. Each ice cream is truly unique. They're dense and rich. And the waffle cones were so good. They're made right there and are fresh, so they have a little crunch and a little chew. And I personally wouldn't complain about the price, especially not for the quality and uniqueness. We paid $10 at Rita's last week for two small cones, basic soft serve from a mix, and there's no comparison to $10 at UDairy for two huge waffle cones with fresh ice cream. Definitely will be back!! Even if it's...
