My family and I went to Kume on a whim on a Friday night. We were quite pleased with the restaurant. We were able to get a seat fairly quickly, particularly for a Friday evening. Dining with a family with young children is always an adventure and the staff at the restaurant was very friendly and accomodating.
The atmosphere was nice as well. It wasn't too loud, besides our kids that is, and was lit well enough to see my family without making me feel like I was in a warehouse with hanging fluorescent bulbs.
The food was delicious. I am a big fan of sushi, sashimi and rolls and I was not disappointed. Everything was flavorful and plated beautifully. One of my kids got the hibachi style dish and I ended up eating that as leftovers on the weekend and it did not disappoint either.
We had a concern about one of the rolls we ordered because of a sensitivity to tuna and asked the waitress to have the chef check to ensure it was salmon and not tuna (they can look quite similar when mixed with a spicy mayo). The staff was more than happy to oblige and we were able to enjoy our salmon rolls.
Bottom line: A pleasant restaurant that is family friendly. No distracting table screens like many of the chain restaurants have and delicious food. I recommend...
Read moreI ordered chicken teriyaki for take out. It was ready at exactly the time it said it would be and was packaged nicely. The chicken tasted very good and was a large portion but the amount of rice given was laughable. Maybe a cup of rice for two chicken breasts. The miso soup was good. The teriyaki sauce was also very watery so it didn't stick to the chicken. The vegetables for it were 90% onions and 3 pieces of broccoli. I want to like the place and I'll give them another shot and try their katsu. If it's as disappointing as their teriyaki, I'll need to find another place which is sad because they are really close by. If you have a gluten allergy be sure to ask because soy and teriyaki sauce have wheat in...
Read moreThe service was a full 5/5. Katy was incredibly thoughtful with our 2 year old, making sure that hot items weren't placed within easy reach whenever possible. She's incredibly attentive and thoughtful. Easily she was the best part of the dining experience.
The food itself was tasty. The sushi and sashimi was spot-on, and the chicken teriyaki my niece had smelled amazing. The tea was hot and flavorful. My one complaint was that the espresso creme brulee arrived frozen, though Katy was quick to go back and get us new (not frozen) ones.
I wish I had thought to take pictures. Definitely coming back here next time we're in the area, so I'll be sure to include...
