Summary: Poor service, and high prices, for mediocre mexican food.
I ate here for lunch with my girlfriend and another couple recently. I grew up in CdM and had eaten at this restaurant (old location) a number of times and I have always enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately I was quite disatissfied with my most recent visit.
To start, although the restaurant was not particularly busy, it took us la pretty long time to get our drink orders filled. Not a big deal, however, it also took a long time for our food to arrive after ordering. Again, not a big deal, but seeing as the restaurant wasn't particularly busy it was off putting.
When our food did arrive it was another set of issues. First, my girlfriend ordered the vegetable tamales. To her surprise there were bits of beef in the vegetable tamales, even though she had been assured they were vegetarian. We tried to track down a server to notify them, but they were quite adept at avoiding our table. When our server did come around after quite some time, she did handle to situation properly by taking the entree off our bill.
Another similar occurrence, one of our friends ordered a chicken quesadilla. To her surprise there were pieces of fish in her quesadilla. Chicken and fish quesadilla? Odd combination
Overall, I'd have to say this was one of my least memorable dining experiences. Although I have come to expect good service and good food from this establishment, neither were true at this most recent visit.
It is unlikely that I will be frequenting this...
Read moreThis is quite possibly the most disgusting food I’ve ever been served up. My family and I (from England) were visiting my aunt in Corona Del Mar. We had been eating some great food around the local area so we were not expecting such a poor quality dining experience. We ordered Fajitas and were all served up plates of the most vile slop so we quickly decided that it wasn’t edible and to leave the restaurant. Everything is expensive in this particular part of the world so I didn’t want to leave without having something to say about it. So I asked to see the manager. The waiter kept telling me that she was busy. After half an hour waiting the waiter finally came out and said that she couldn’t come out because one of her staff had cut their finger!!! It probably ended up in some other poor person’s Tacos!!! I don’t think that the manager had the nerve to come out and face me. It was like Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares, if he’d been there he’d of recommended they close down. So, in the end I didn’t even get the satisfaction of giving my most honest opinion to the manager. I left feeling like I’d been robbed. DO NOT EVER SPEND YOUR MONEY AT...
Read morethis is one of the better Mexican food chains in Orange county. this location is definitely is staple and possibly one of their best. it was not a wait for us to get a table on a Friday night at 6 however there are not that many tables left. it is an eclectic mix of old and young groups out celebrating as well as people on dates having margaritas. in addition to that they have a really great food, particularly their carnitas which is served with pico de gallo, avocado, flour or corn tortillas, and really nice chunks of almost brisket like carnitas served crispy. my wife had the sizzling fajita platter which I have to tell you is definitely enough for to the peppers and onions and mushrooms were really delicious.
I would say this is likely the best traditionalMexican food in Corona del Mar.
the server was really helpful she was sweet and attentive got our order within two minutes of us sitting down we had the food within 20 minutes of sitting down and they definitely bought plenty of chips and really good homemade salsa that was slightly spicy. overall I would definitely...
