BRUNCH MISFIRE New restaurant that my friend raves about and visits often. We tried their new Brunch today and it was a big disappointment. It is a lovely location and welcoming decor. When we arrived a steel kettle musician was playing nicely. The 30-something waiter talked a lot about his impressive experience at top flite eateries but it came out a bit condescending and arrogant. We ordered a peach Bellini and Mimossa which were only passible. We later learned that, absent a bartender, the waiters were making the drinks. Next we ordered their creamed corn (of Gulliver's and Ritz history) and it was WONDERFUL in taste but barely warm. For entre' I ordered Eggs Benedict which were classic and good. The special potatoes were cubed with peppers and strange things so went uneaten. There was also a pile of sweet-dressed salad that was nothing special. My friend ordered blue berry pancakes and the description included reference to ricotta cheese. Three small thin pancakes arrived with butter atop and no sign of Ricotta. When questioned, the waiter left and returned explaining that the Ricotta was in the batter! If it WAS in the batter, it was undetectable. Perhaps the waiters were cooking the meals as well as tending bar? We met the owner Pierro on the way out and shared that his BRUNCH needs some refining. He was receptive and appreciative. We don't recommend it now for Brunch, but feel optimistic that it...
Read moreI was looking forward to go to this place. Nice looking restaurant, great location, great view, and friendly staff.
As an Italian restaurant, it doesn’t seem like they have a person who knows Italian food, and if they have one, that person must have gotten a heart attack after seeing how they cooked my pasta.
As an appetizer, the tartare was just ok, nothing special The lasagna looked good at first, big portion with lots of meat, but the barely-there sauce was tasteless and didn’t have enough cheese, more than anything the whole thing was soggy - quite a disappointment as I love lasagna and really wanted it to be good While the chicken in the chicken parm was great, the pasta accompanying it was a disaster. It was overcooked with a subpar pomodoro sauce that I hope was straight from a can - I really hope they didn’t waste time making that from scratch! Short ribs tasted great but def needed more time to be cooked to perfection Smoked roasted chicken was flavorful, but too dry for the price
They had a steak section in their menu and, I have to say, the steak served to other tables looked good but I went to an Italian restaurant to have Italian food, not steak. Maybe change the description to steakhouse and save yourself from reviews like mine?
Overall, ok restaurant with great ambiance, but they need to revisit their menu and add food that they know...
Read moreWe were there celebrating my friends birthday yesterday, February 3, 2024. This was a momentous occasion for my friend as he was turning 62. My boyfriend and I are vegans and while we do not expect a lot from a steak/seafood place, I would at least have expected some level of professionalism and courtesy from our waiter. We are not picky people, and we always default to pasta with vegetables when we are at a place that serves primarily seafood/steak. Other waiters at other restaurants are always more than happy to accommodate us and order us vegetables and pasta. It has never been a problem. However this particular waiter gave me attitude and appear to be upset with me as I asked him to put a lot of vegetables over pasta to which he responded “I don’t know it’s up to the chef” and he copped an attitude with me . I was uncomfortable the whole time as he had an attitude while we were there. I have never experienced such lack of professionalism and micro aggression from this person. He has no business working as a waiter if he can’t tolerate or even accommodate vegans!!!!!!! My dinner experience at Louie’s was horrible. I will never come to this place again and will tell all my friends about my nightmare...
