Discovered this little gem after landing at SNA and wanting some BBQ before we headed home. Their team was very friendly and helpful, gave us some tips on ordering. The service was great and our food came out quickly. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered.
Brisket - one of the juiciest briskets I've had with a great crust and flavor. It was so tender and we destroyed 1 lb between the 2 of us. Texas Sausage - excellent flavor, good snap, perfect amount of heat, and very juicy. Smoked Wings - we love smoked wings and these did not disappoint. They were delicious! They came with a Gochujang BBQ sauce which was so yummy, as well as ranch. I'm very picky about my ranch dressing and theirs was very good. The wings usually with french fries but we are trying to stay low-carb and they were super accommodating and subbed with their tangy coleslaw. Tangy Coleslaw - great crunch and flavor and nice complement to the BBQ. Banana Pudding - this was a a little treat they gifted us with after talking with them and telling them how much we enjoyed our meal. Banana pudding wouldn't be my go to dessert, but this was delicious. It was very moist, creamy, and not overly sweet.
All of the food with sodas came out to $65 (with a 20% tip) and we took some of the wings and sausage home. It was a great price point for barbecue in OC.
Lastly, their mustard barbecue sauce is absolutely amazing. I could have drank it.

Read moreIntriguing new BBQ spot that I just tried for lunch when I was in the area. BBQ choices are limited to baby back pork ribs & BBQ chicken. No beef ribs or brisket or tri-tip or burnt ends on the menu, or even St. Louis pork ribs.
I ordered the quarter rack of baby back ribs (advertised as 3-4 ribs, I ended up with 5 on my order), which were very good and fall-of-the-bone tender, and the amount of meat on the ribs were quite a lot that I only ate about half of the meat and took the rest home as leftovers. The sides of onion rings were excellent, and the unique roasted corn cheese was interesting and pretty good (cup of corn, with layer of melted cheese on top). Also came with a piece of cornbread, but I didn't have room to eat this, so I took it home as a leftover. This BBQ platter was a little bit pricey, but when I enjoy the BBQ ribs, it's worth it.
I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the relatively limited selection of BBQ choices, as my preference is usually to try the beef options first, but I rarely turn down baby back pork ribs. I'll be coming back when I'm in the neighborhood. If they add beef options to the menu, I will come back more often...
Read moreWe went back to Newport for an event a year later, and everything was still fantastic! I completely agree with my review from a year ago. This place was totally legit!! I had a long, hard day of work and was craving BBQ. Google showed this place was close to me. It was only 10 minutes before they closed and you never know what kind of BBQ you will get from a place about to close but this was awesome. The people working there were super friendly and whoever is working the pit is a master. The brisket was perfect. The tug test was spot on and the flavor awesome. The ribs had just the right chew and great flavor. The beans were outstanding, I loved the mac-n-cheese and the potato salad had just the right amount of pickle. The big piece of corn bread must have had a stick of butter in it. Just awesome... And I was asked what kind of sauce I wanted? Spicy, regular or mustard? I said they all sounded good so she said, no problem here is one of each. Memphis style BBQ and unbelievably good for a place that closed its doors as I walked out. Iam a big eater and I am stuffed! I applaud you all. Nicely...
