Horrible, horrible, horrible! If I could give -5 stars I would. How is this place even in business?!
Came here because of OC Restaurant week’s advertised dinner special which was supposed to come with choice of appetizer, entrée & dessert.
First off, the service was absolutely terrible. We sat at the table for a good 10 min being absolutely ignored when it wasn’t even busy. When we did get acknowledged the server didn’t make up for it with good service. She always seemed like she was in a rush to take our orders or requests when all she was doing was talking to her fellow 16 year old employees about Snapchat.
Next, the food that came out had horribly bland or weird flavors. The side of beans & “rice” tasted worse than boxed or canned. The only thing that was semi decent was the piece of toasted bread that came out with the appetizer & the shrimp in the seafood bucket. Even the flour tortillas tasted old.
Of course the waitress rushed to get us dessert without even taking our order. Again, we were supposed to have options. After waiting 20 min they bring us dessert that we didn’t even order. It was a sad excuse for fried ice cream that literally tasted like it was coated in corn flakes. I couldn’t even finish it. When she checked in on us after a long time, I told her that it wasn’t what we ordered & she said there were no dessert options & that they don’t do churros. Had she let us know beforehand there would have been no issue but the menu clearly gave options.
For the price, I paid I would have rather bought my own ingredients & made it myself. Not to mention I wouldn’t have had to deal with the underage staff opening & closing the patio doors & bringing in the strong smell of marinuana & the freezing air along with them.
To put the cherry on top, it took 20 min for them to allow us to pay for the most disappointing meal.
Literally one of the worst restaurant...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would give them zero. The general manager Ruben Hernandez came over with waters, took our order and then proceeded to stand at the bar and wait 15 minutes for a drink there bar tender was out of. When I tried to get his attention to order an appetizer while we waited for our drinks he proceeded to tell me no and that he would get our drinks first. 10 minutes later he came back to inform us the mango margaritas were out and asked if he wanted something else. I asked again if we could order while we looked through the drink menus. He rolled his eyes and said he guessed he could just take my whole order if I wanted. When I said excuse me? He gave me a sarcastic response that he would just take our order. At this point I asked if we could have another server. He walked over to a server and said loudly these people have a problem with me and don’t like me can you help them. A nice young lady came over and did her best to make the situation better, however she informed us that he was the general manager at which point I decided to leave. When I asked for his supervisors name and information he gave me his card. When I asked him who I could speak to he then told me I was wrong that h didn’t give me attitude and he didn’t role his eyes at us. He started telling me he was giving us good service and made a scene in the front of his restaurant. His service was disgusting. Thank he fact that he is the GM is horrible - we have always had a wonderful experience at this restaurant until now - it seems like they have someone with a bad attitude running this place and it...
Read moreIve been to other BRL in San Diego and definitely trying out the restaurant. I gave this one a lower star rating for the experience and service (which is a big part of dining out). We sat at the bar cause we just wanted a quick bite and a beer. There was no one at the bar. As we approached the bartender was really disheveled and scoffed with a comment its "going to be awhile before i get to you. I have to make drinks and do dishes from the full bar that just left"...... Ok. So do we go or stay? My friend has never been and we were set on being there. We were super polite and patient considering im a bartender too. He recomended the tequila lime shrimp which was amazing. The chips were too salty and i asked for water 3 times, while he want too busy. Never got it. He just complained the whole time about his job saying he should just leave. He was serving warm beers to the wait staff saying tuff and when any of the staff would ask him a question he would be real snarky. When we got the bill he said I hope you enjoyed the service..... When i left i said i hope your day gets better, he replied when i leave.
