Wok & Roll — Restaurant in Newport City

Lady who answered the phone said they were closed, ( it was 9:26 pm on a Friday night google says they close at 10pm) I asked really? I didn’t think you closed until 10?. She said ok what do you want? I can stay open, but you have to come and get your food. After promising multiple times I would, and that I was only 1 exit away ( we were traveling and getting gas 1 exit away) I was able to place my order. We rushed there, worried she may not stay opened, when we got there 12 minutes later the whole place was extremely dark, the doors were locked but the open sign was on. My husband walked threw the first door and knocked on the second. After a few minutes, I decided I should call. I called and told her my husband was outside knocking. She said ok, and hung up. About 5 minutes later she came to the door with a bag of food, he went in and paid, we left in the parking lot my son started eating his $6 Chinese takeout box of fried frozen French fries.., I wasn’t impressed, I immediately was worried about our food, but I grabbed a chicken finger off the top and it tasted ok and we left. We drive 15 minutes to our destination, starting getting the food out. My husband said wasn’t I supposed to get rice? I said yes… (I had ordered him teriyaki beef, chicken wings, and rice with a egg roll. #15) what he was given was Teriyaki CHICKEN, chicken wings, a 4”x5” container of rice ( we found at the bottom of the bag) and an egg roll. The teriyaki chicken ( that we didn’t order) was dry, tough, and over cooked, the chicken wings extremely undercooked to the point they were still as close to raw as you could get in the inside( my husband tried each one hoping it was just one and had to throw all of them out) the egg roll he said was ok, and the rice was dry and old and only 1 up from the worst Chinese he has ever had. I had gotten just an appetizer of chicken fingers, the top 3-4 were good, the lower I got the more stale and dry they were. And the batter was not crisp and fresh like the top ones. 1 of the 3 fortune cookies were stale, but as far as portion size of the appetizer it was great, the price was good too, they definitely need to work on price if those $6 frozen French fries, getting the order right, customer service, food quality. Obviously a few other things. But I did greatly appreciate the fact that she took my order and stayed open even though she said they were closed ( over 30 minutes early). I’m also sure if I came during the day or a regular rush time the food would have been fresh and great, so I would consider trying them again, but only if it was mid day or during a busy day when the food would be most likely fresh and quality of service...

This place is the best thing to happen to human kind! The food is heavenly and always fresh. In fact, I'm eating it right now. Of course you get the occasional explosion of the colon, but that's expected with any Chinese food. Besides if you look at it positively the time you spend on the can is peaceful alone time where your boss isn't bugging you about anything, and if he does just tell him you went to the Wok and Roll and he'll probably give you the rest of the day off. Maybe even some medical leave. If you've ever dated you would know that there is always that one other guy. He's funny charming and good with the ladies. He always goes for a move on your girl and your girl laughs at everything he says...yeah annoying! Invite him to dinner at the Wok and Roll. Just order water for yourself so the next day you can watch him wok and roll on the floor in pain. You will get so much enjoyment out of watching him run to the bathroom every five minutes, and the groans from the bathroom will disgust your girl so much she will remember that you will always be the one for her. I pity the poor fool who eats at the Wok and Roll. But hey, their beef with broccoli can't be beat! It's just so delicious! Need some peaceful alone time? Annoying guy hitting on your girl? The sesame chicken I had yesterday was pretty much inedible. I found very little meat (only ?skins and tendons) . Some I couldn’t even cut with a knife. I was very disappointed with the pork fried rice also. It was old and had no flavor at all. The wonton soup had so much cabbage and carrots there was no room for broth and wontons..
