Cloverleaf Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Newport

The food and service at this establishment were excellent, but I had an unfortunate experience regarding drink pricing. I ordered the same drink from two different bartenders, and one charged me $10 while the other charged me $5.

Additionally, there was a group of extremely intoxicated patrons in the back, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere. While I was sitting calmly in the front, it felt like these individuals were being overserved, and I noticed a significant discrepancy in pricing when I was served by a particular barback compared to the other female bartenders.

I had high hopes for this bar, but after tonight's experience, I don’t plan to return. The environment was off-putting, with shouting and rowdiness that made many guests, including myself, feel uneasy.

I also encountered a staff member—likely the manager or barback—who was quite unfriendly. He was a jovial-looking gentleman in a staff T-shirt who didn’t engage with patrons or show any hospitality. I didn’t expect much from this tiny bar. We just came for a drink and ended up getting food, and boy was I surprised. That was one of the best fish sandwiches I have ever had! It was perfectly crispy on the outside but tender and flaky on the inside. The breading was golden brown and the topping paired so well. I always need spice with my meal though so I asked for hot sauce, they brought me Melinda’s habanero sauce. So good! My tater tots were also cooked exactly the way I like too. Kay is amazing. Not just an amazing bartender but looked out for me when I was uncomfortable and sensed someone had bad intentions/made me very uncomfortable and noticed right away when I brought to her attention. She made sure I got to my car and was okay. I truly could not thank her enough. I love this bar, I have been going here for a while when I can, I will for sure go back knowing she took control and helped me out of a possible bad situation. So much love for her.
