China Star III — Restaurant in Newport

There are not many Chinese restaurant options in the area but this place is pretty good! Seems like mainly a takeout spot but there are a few tables indoors. Very unassuming but the food is quite delicious and would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area. All dishes are served in takeout containers so it is an easy cleanup and takeaway with leftovers. I would recommend the pork fried rice, chicken lo mein, singapore mai fun, chicken wings in a garlic sauce, and beef with string beans. All are flavorful and delicious. The mapo tofu is ok but not exactly what we wanted. You cannot go wrong with the wonton egg drop soup.

I love the food but definitely have a lot to work on in this place. I ordered for delivery @645pm they call me at 745pm to cancel my order because they are “too busy to deliver my food” but are still taking other orders. I’ve had 4 messed up orders in the past 6 months no refund or replacement order and now this “cancelled” order. I have been a customer for years but will never return after this. And now weeks later call me and tell me because I gave a negative review they won’t deliver food to me when all they had to do is make my full order correct I have been buying food from here for over 6 years and to get treated that way because of a review which I could have revised like this one if they weren’t so ignorant and rude because of...

Food was excellent and you get a lot of it! The sesame chicken is good size and the veggie rolls are not over done. Service was a little slow in the evening and the thing that really bothered us was the there was an older man close to the ordering bar, who I think was the owner, who played very loud and annoying social media reels on his phone. Very annoying and it wasnt a good eating dinner type of environment. Over all, the food saved this place for me on this one, otherwise I would have left unhappy.
