If you need a cake def pick this place out of everywhere else in Catawba county or Burke county area. I came for a baby shower cake and she made it exactly how I wanted. I go to a lot of weddings/ functions and it’s always funny to me how no one eats the cake . My cake was gone. Everyone said how beautiful it was as well as how moist and fresh it tasted ! Customer service is great. Staff is friendly. Owner is self taught and worked around other bakeries in the area for years. She finally opened up her own place and I am so glad she did! Other places I went to told me they couldn’t do something because they didn’t have the proper tools or they would always say will it won’t look exactly like the picture . Well she will go out and get it and create whatever you want and make it look like exactly how you want it . Also while discussing the cake and flavors she actually went to the back and made me Oreo cake to try since it wasn’t out on the floor; so I knew actually what all flavors tasted. We had a three layer coconut, red velvet, and Oreo . Great flavors ! Give this place a try ! I got four different types of cupcakes as following ,red velvet, white with chocolate buttercream and strawberry margarita. I only had the strawberry margarita and red velvet one to taste. The strawberry margarita was amazing the cupcake itself was super moist and had lots of actual strawberry chunks in the cake the frosting was soft and tinky with citrus but not overly sweet which I appreciate. The red velvet cupcake a cake itself was delicious and moist but the icing was just playing buttercream if it was supposed to be cream cheese icing it was very lacking in taste of cream cheese it wasn't a bad icing for buttercream but just not what I expected for red velvet once again the cake itself was moist and delicious just not a fan of the icing the other two cupcake flavors went to my mother-in-law and father-in-law. Carpe Crustum is such an amazing bakery and Kelli is fabulous to work with!! She made our wedding cake in May and both us and our guests were so impressed. It's hard to find a cake that is equally beautiful and delicious and Kelli made it happen. Each layer was a different flavor and filling and each one was delicious! She did such an incredible job making our dream wedding cake come to life with all the details, colors, and decorations. We are so happy we found Kelli!
