Yesterday we went to eat at El Batan, and i i can say is: YOU GOTTA GO THERE! location is kinda strange, you have to drive into a housing development with a Golf Club, and the restaurant is inside the Players lodge.
we took there my Brother in Law, which happens to be originally from Peru`, and he truly had a feast there. ...
We started with the "Ceviche de Pescado", he confirmed that he hasn't had a Ceviche made this way since he was in Peru`, it was the best he had since he's been here in the US.
We also had the "Papa a la Huancaina" and it turned out to be a very delightful appetizer with Potatoes and Eggs and a creamy dipping sauce that was enjoyable for everyone at the table.
I ordered the "Lomo Soltado" which is beef tenderloin of a tenderness that did not make sense on a piece of meat... it was so tastefull, and the gravy sauce to dip the Meat in was so fulfilling to the palate... definitely the cook in the kitchen knows what he/she's doing back there
He ordered also the "Aji de Gallina", which as a dish looked strange, but i had to ask for a bite, and ohh my goodness, next time i know what i will order.
And DESSERT oh, please have their Tres Leches!!! It is the best i had in a decade, not your common restaurant Tres Leche, this is the super creamy version like i had in central America... If you have a sweet craving, try it!!!
... Needless to say, i think you need to make it a point to go to [EL BATAN] in this Christmas Holidays, you will...
Read moreThis restaurant wasnt my cup of tea. I was very excited to hear there was a new Peruvian place in the area. We got there and we almost left because we were not sure of the restaurants location. Google maps took us to the locarion but they need more signs. Its inside like a golf club building. We went in, food is very pricey, portions are smaller than expected. Food was bland. Fries had no salt and there is no salt shaker in the table. The place is very small and even at that it was hard to get the waitress attention. The hostess was sweeping our table while we were still there and eating which I thought it was a little rude. Tiny little sauces they bring were just ok. At the end of the day we wont be going back. Its more like an upscale place for wealthy people. Some other people may like it and find it nice. Its all about likes. Give it a try and make your own opinion. Just sharing my...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem! We ate with a large group of people last Thursday and everyone said their food was fabulous! I have to agree! I had a Pisco Sour (a traditional Peruvian cocktail) and Picante de Camarones as my entree off the A La Carte menu. I’ve borrowed pictures from their website as I forgot to take any.
It came with rice and was very satisfying and absolutely delicious! The seasoning was delicate and unlike anything I’ve tasted before. I can’t say enough great things about our meal, the restaurant, and the service (which was friendly, informative, and attentive).
We took home two of the three desserts pictured and the Tres Leches (left) was our favorite!
I almost hate to say this, because I’ll probably never get a seat there again, but don’t hesitate to try this Peruvian food. It’s a little off the beaten path, but definitely...
